Top Three Bottom of the Pit Restraunts

WOW!! I am canceling San Angel Inn. Way too many negative reviews ....:scared1:

We go there every time we are at Disney. We have never had a problem and the food is good. I was surprised there were so many negatives on the first page of posts alone. I agree with the Tony's Town Square. It was terrible. I think that anywhere you go at times there is a chance that you will have a bad experience or food. There are some places that always are good like Coral Reef, but sometimes you take your chances with dining reservations. We had a bad food and service at Liberty Tree Tavern once but went back again and it was great the 2nd time around. It just depends on the day sometimes.

I didn't have high expectations of the food at Sci Fi. I got the burger and the bun was dry...lots of pokey crumbs in my cleavage. I’m a mini-van mom and didn’t realize I had exposed cleavage until the crumbs so it was enlightening anyway.

:scared1:
For some reason, I pictured the OP as a male and was reading the whole post with a male voice in my head. That is, till I got to the my cleavage part.
Threw me right off! :rotfl2::

Before you cancel any meals, remember that these are opinions. Remember that people usually have crazy high expectations for Disney. Remember that sometimes people create problems that might or might not really be there. I've eaten at San Angel Inn 4 times and never had a bad meal. It's not the best meal I've ever had but I thought it was well worth the money. Don't let negative people turn you away from thing you want to try.

I agree!:thumbsup2

H&V for dinner- the food was disgusting and cold and we had terrible service.

ABC Commissary- the food was disgusting.

Garden Grill- our food was cold, we maybe saw our waiter once or twice, and the characters rushed through everyone's tables.

We have always had good food and service at the Garden Grill. That is actually the first restaurant we ever ate at in Disney. I can only think of two that I probably won't go back to again. Other than that we have always had a positive experience with dining. I mean how can they mess up Mickey bars for my wife!:woohoo:

Tony's - Bad food, bad service, great location for Spectro Magic.

Liberty Tree Tavern - Bad experience with server, very rude to my wife.

My pick for the worst three:

1. 1900 Park Fare Dinner -- An incredibly rude and nasty hostess yelled at me for complaining about the lousy table she seated us at. The "knives" they give you are like paddles and are impossible to use to cut the hunk of shoe leather roast beef a carver plunked on my plate. Not much variety for a buffet either. Didn't help that the Asian selections all tasted really bad.

2. Boma Dinner -- I like spicy and I like trying unusual foods. I wanted to love Boma after reading all the rave reviews here, but we found the food awful. Everything tasted like it was "spiced" with plain white sugar.

3. Studio Catering Company -- Slimey turkey sandwich.

My advice, though, is that if you like the way the menu sounds, give it a try--no matter what you read here.

For years, I hesitated to try San Angel Inn based on the lackluster reviews here, but we went this year after a change in plans, and we loved it! My son ordered the crispy shrimp dish and it was very tasty. My white chocolate mousse dessert was the bomb!

I also avoided Sci Fi for a long time, but loved it when we dined there. The food was fine and the atmosphere couldn't be beat.

I don't believe that there is a single resterant that I wouldn't try again. I have had some iffy service but I will try it again cause you will usually get another server.

1. Mama Melrose

2. ABC Commissary

3. Sci-Fi - my burger was WAY underdone (I like it pretty much burned, and I told them that...but this thing was like rare!) -- the waitress just said it must be the lighting and did nothing about it :scared1: (and it was NOT the lighting...i even took a pic with the flash just to see it even better and it was... can't even talk about it!)

My only bad ones were Mama Melrose and Boma Dinner. At Mama Melrose, I just felt that I could cook better, and while I am pretty good at cooking, I expect a restaurant to be better. Also, the service was HORRIBLE!!!

At Boma, it was the service and atmosphere. I LOVE African food, and eat it a lot at home, but I didn't find it to live up to it's reputation (it definitely was not bad, just a bit of a disappointment). My major issue was that it was really crowded, and the seating is really close together, and we were seated beside a couple that was fighting the whole time

I have to say that I like San Angel Cafe, not that the Mexican food is particularly good. It isn't, but I love the atmosphere.

My three would-not-returns are:

1. Kona Cafe---That French toast everyone raves about tasted like a churro from Costco. Also, I don't like eating in an area that is exposed to the lobby. It reminded me of a food court because we were still experiencing the noise from the rest of the Poly.

2. Big River Grille---food was mediocre and the smell that pervaded the entire space reminded me of a frat party.

3. Tony's. It just takes like frozen Italian food.Frankly, I think MK could use a few more good restaurants.

Also, I've never eaten at the ironically named Whispering Canyon Cafe just because when we stayed at the WL, DS couldn't stand the noise from WCC when we walked through the lobby. I knew we'd never make it through a meal there.

This is all a matter of personal opinion because what one person loves another person does not. We've gone to restaurants that people have raved about and we found them mediocre at best (if not worse), and we've gone to restaurants that people hated that we enjoyed very much.

Our three that we found to be "bottom of the pit" and that we will not return to are: Hollywood & Vine -- bad service, filthy restaurant, lukewarm food (and that is when they had food -- they were very slow to replace empty spots) that was not good at all; Whispering Canyon Cafe -- again really bad service, bad food (hated the skillet and everything in it, and the meat made my husband ill); and Boatwright's at the POR-Riverside -- again really bad service and not very good food for what they charge (had to send mine back twice and they still didn't get it right).

Worst three ever?
1. California Grill
2. Narcoosee's
3. Kona Cafe

Oh mine would have to be

Biergarten...it was just gross. GROSS. I left hungry. :sad2:

Cantina de San Angel...the meal I had there was so bad I don't even wanna talk about it!! :lmao:

San Angel Inn...while the food there wasn't bad, it was mediocre and the menu (for lunch) seemed very limited.

On the other hand, I LOVE Whispering Canyon Cafe and we've never had an issue with service or our food, so I guess to each his own. Except for the Cantina. That place is just bad. Stay away! :rotfl:

1. ABC Commissary
2. ABC Commissary (yes we were dumb enough to go back on another trip)
3. Pizza Planet

I only have two and they are both CS:
1) Cosmic Ray's - the driest chicken sandwich and the slowest service for counter service.
2) Yak and Yeti counter service - rice was mushy and food was worse than mall take out.

I've never had a really bad meal at WDW. But there have been a few places that either didn't live up to expectations or weren't worth a return visit.

1 - TRex at Downtown Disney. Food was fine. The loud noises and flashing lights were annoying. Probably the only place I wouldn't want to go back.

2 - Le Cellier at Canada in EPCOT. After hearing all the rave reviews, it didn't live up to my high expectations. Food was good, although not special. Seemed really crowded, like too many people were packed into the small room.

3 - Jiko at Animal Kindgom Lodge. Once again, it didn't live up to the great reviews. Food and service were very nice. But I kept wishing I was at Boma. It wasn't worth the high price.

So there weren't "bottom of the pit" restaurants. However, with so many great places to eat, I doubt I'll return any time soon.

We only have two table service restaurants that we will never try again.

1. Holywood and Vine-service, food quality, and cleanliiness of the restaurant were horrendous..never again

2. Whispering Canyon-totally inept waitress that ended up with us getting the meal comped-food was cold, too...icky

One counter service: Yakitori House or as we call it: YUCKitori House-cold food, tiny bland portions

I can think of only two places that we're not in any hurry to return to:

1. Jiko. We wanted to love this place...we REALLY did! But, the filet I was served was nothing but fat - it was awful. I asked to send it back, only because it was completely inedible. When it came back to the table, it was practically raw! :scared1: At that point, though, I was afraid to send it back again, so I just ate the edges of it! LOL The service we had was WONDERFUL, though - the best we had that entire 2-week trip! And, I should also point out that our appetizers and desserts were phenomenal! I think I was just expecting more from the filet. We'll give it another chance at some point...just not in the next couple of years!

2. Rose & Crown. By FAR, the absolute WORST dining experience we've ever had in Disney!! We waited over an hour past our ADR time, which has happened before and doesn't bother us - we know restaurants get backed up from time to time. But, when they started to seat parties without ADR's in front of us, that was a little bothersome! The waiter there was VERY friendly, but I think he was a little overwhelmed. He brought us beer that another table had ordered; My wine glass had some sort of white, crusty stuff on it, and when he brought me a 'new' one, it still had the white, crusty stuff on the bottom!! :rotfl: Again, he was very, very nice - I actually felt a little bad for him, because he was obviously a little stressed! But, it wasn't a good experience overall, and the food was just mediocre at best. Again, I wouldn't completely rule it out in the future, but it will be some time before braving it again...

1) Chef Mickey's Breakfest - My DD enjoyed the character's, but the food was horrible (SLOP)

2) Narcoosee's - Wasn't Impressed!!!!!!

3) Contempo Cafe - Yuck!!!!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring back SPOODLE'S (Best Restaurant on Disney Property)

ABC Commissary-Food didn't have any flavor
Kona Cafe-dinner was good, dessert was terrible, I almost broke my tooth on the hard macaroon. very slow service
