TOP SECRET Ladies and gentlemens like the previous year MY FREE DINING NEWS

I am new at this so please bear with me.

We are booked Dec 9-14th.
So am I correct to assume based on check in date of the 9th we would not get Free dining? BUT if we stayed at another resort and checked in to GF on the 10th we WOULD get it?

Yes. You can do a room only for the first night and then check in for your package the next day and received the free dining for your length of stay.

If you did a room only one night at any resort, and then did a package starting on the 10th, then yes.

Oh well...kind of confirmed what I already knew about our dates (October 13th check in). I guess we can move it a week later, but that's when the Gartner Symposium will be....does anyone know if that will have a huge impact on crowds? I'm just glad they are finally releasing it and releasing it earlier than last year, I need to get those MNSSHP tickets purchased and I was waiting on FDing dates :)

Sunny....that is a great question!! I'm pretty sure I did. I came up with the numbers from Disney's site and picked the room with 4 adults & 2 kids. Then changed the ticket section to show only 2 tickets. I'm assuming that would be for all 6 of us???

But the other newbie brought up a good point that I didn't figure in. Since we check in on 12/8 there is no free dining. So I would need to do the room only discount for 12/8 & 12/9 then do free dining for 12/10 - 12/15. I feel like my head is going to EXPLODE with all these numbers!!!! :crazy2:

Thanks Brave and DisneyMom5!
So do I actually have to stay at a different resort on the 9th? I am assuming that's how it would work but it would be nice if we didn't have to switch resorts ;)

Wow, thanks for the heads up! We currently have a reservation for 12/19-12/22 at PORFQ, following a Disney cruise. However, with free dining, I would change our travel dates and check in on 12/10 or 12/11. With free dining, I could probably add a night or two!!!

I am using a travel agent, though. Can she use the same promotion or can I call and have it applied? (Sorry for lack of understanding, but this is our first trip!)

No, not unless there is no availability for that night at your resort of choice. Sometimes you don't even have to change rooms, though there is no guarantee on that.

Your TA will have to call to get it applied because she owns the reservation.

Thank you! I called her and she confirmed that she has received an email regarding the fact that a special offer will be coming out on Thursday, but doesn't know dates or specifics yet. She's checking on rates and dates since I will have to change things up a bit.

Do all TA's get the info regarding upcoming promo's/discounts at or around the same time? We're booked with a different kind of TA (one that only works with bowling alleys and a specific league). I don't want to call her prematurely if she hasn't received any info on it yet.

Also, I don't remember if the GP offer for FD comes with a specific code. Can anyone confirm that for me? If it does, then I will need to know where to find the GP offer (once released) so that I can call our TA with the code to have it applied to our package. Will Disney's site have it or will the DISboards beat them to it? I want to jump on this as soon as it's available :hyper:

I usually find the code first either here or mousesavers.com. Don't plan on the disney site or emails to have it before that.
TAs sometimes get it early, sometimes you have to tell them.

That's interesting that she got an email with this info...

The reason I say that, and to answer your question cybrkitn, I'm a TA and work for a large travel company (that happens to like vowels...if you get my drift...) and in the past I haven't found out until maybe the day before.

I tend to find out out about things like this on the DIS way before I do from work.

My TA got an email about the offer as well. I think the Disney only agencies get the info. I use a TA that book Disney only.

Thanks for the quick responses everyone :goodvibes. I'll be sure to check here first thing Thursday and, once our TA's office opens, I'll give them the info to apply to our package :cool1:

It's amazing that the internet Disney message boards and the like have the info prior to Disney updating their site with it. At least it let's us have a jump on things :teeth:

No. they don't.

We are currently booked at POR for 11/24-11/30. I know POR tends to fill up quickly when the offer is released but so I need to be on the phone right at 7am or does it usually take a couple days to fill up? Thanks

No. they don't. An my agency is a Disney specialist and we find out on Dis. I think it depends on the levels of agencies (earmarked agencies tend to often hear ahead of time...but not all do) and or more likely whether their Sales manager lets them know ahead of time as wel..

Yes, mine is definitely earmarked...well I'd like to think we're more than that since we have exclusive opportunities for trips booked through us, etc. I do know things come through the grapevine but until we get an official email from DTA it's a rumor.

Well- looks like we will be shooting for POR royal rooms and cancelling LM. Kinda disappointed about not doing AoA, but thrilled about the royal rooms as this is our first time doing non-value (and can't justify paying for a meal plan during free dining and paying more with said meal plan than we would at a moderate resort.) Of course, for the same price we could do LM with dining plan for two days then switch to POR and do free dining for the rest of our trip (12 days.) What to do....what to do....
