Hi there! We are heading down to the Poly in a few weeks and we are planning on going to watch fireworks at TOTWL on 1/30/18. My DH and I are owners, and we have seven people on our reservation.

Last week, a friend told me that she and her family (four people total) will be going to WDW at the same time as us. They are staying offsite. Can we also bring them to TOTWL or is it only DVC members and guests on their reservation? I don't want to take advantage, and I understand if we can't, but I am looking to get clarification so I can make alternate plans with our friends.

Thank you!

The published rule is that only DVC members staying onsite (does not have to be in a DVC resort or on points, though) and guests on their reservation are allowed up to TOTWL. However, there have been reports of the rules not being strictly enforced, especially at non-busy times of year (e.g., end of January). Be sure you have your DVC Membership card (blue or white, hard card or digital) and ID handy, although again there are reports of the CM not checking those things.

Also keep in mind they cannot park at BLT to go to TOTWL-parking is only for guests staying there not those visiting TOTWL. Usually they will allow parking at the Poly if they say they are visiting you (then they can take the monorail with you to CR and walk over to BLT). We have family who lives in the area and have had them visit us at various resorts with no trouble parking (BLT, Poly, BWV)

My brother's family was staying in a hotel room. They met some people who took them up to TOTWL to watch the fireworks during Christmas week. I was surprised they were allowed up there.

Thanks for the info! I had wondered about parking. They will be at MK during the day, so I think they would just leave their car parked there, but it's still good to know.

That is my concern....even though it happens to some people, it's not guaranteed. This is their first time at WDW and they are only there for the day. MK closes at 8 pm that night for Disney After Hours, so if they leave the park only to find out they can't go to TOTWL, they might be really disappointed they didn't just stay at MK for fireworks.

Are you in a bungalow with 7 people on reservation? I would watch from there, invite everyone.

I wish!!! I did contemplate getting a bungalow for one night and then staying in studios the remaining nights, but I decided against it. We have two studios.

Oh, shucks. I got a tour of a bungalow yesterday and the view of the fireworks from there would be amazing.

I would try to bring them up, with the plan they would watch from the 4th floor of the Contemporary as a back up, but mention it to them. They may not want to take the chance. I think the time of year would be in your favor.

How fun! I bet the view would be fantastic.

That's a really good point. I will probably give her the info and let them decide. Knowing they can still view the fireworks from a good spot might make it worth it. Plus, the kids would get a chance to ride the monorail into the CR, so there is that. Thanks for the advice!

If you have two studios, you could add 3 of the 4 to your reservation. Then you can bring 10 people up, and you only have to get an exception for 1 person.

If you have two studios, you actually have two separate reservations. If there isn't a DVC member in each studio, they could deny your guests in the second studio from going up to TOTWL. The second studio isn't on the same reservation as the first.

This is very good to know. I made the assumption that there wouldn't be a problem based on my experience with booking Moonlight Magic.

For MM....When I spoked to MS, I explained that we booked two studios, but they have separate reservation numbers. They said that as long as they are on my points, it's 'like' we are all on the same reservation. I was still a little nervous it would be an issue, but I was able to book all 7 of us for MM.

That being said, I can see how if it works for one thing, it may not work for the other. I guess we will just have to try and if it doesn't work, we won't be disappointed.

Thank you!

Thanks for the idea! We have the dining plan, so as much as I love my friend and her family, that would be an expensive trip to TOTWL!

does TOTWL block non-BLT guests on Easter Sunday? I'm staying there, but my friend is at SSR.

What time do you guys recommend getting to TOTW? We have California Grill dinner reservations for 5:45 the night we planned to go.
