Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anybody had any information about the Top of the World Lounge at Bay Lake Tower. I made a reservation for August at BLT and the CM from Member Services told me to keep checking dvcmember.com for details about the lounge. She said nobody knows for sure what type of space it will be; restaurant, bar, or just a hangout. The only information she shared was it will be a great spot for viewing the MK fireworks, the Seven Seas Lagoon, and Bay Lake which we all kind of new already.

did not think they want the personally requirement to kept it opened - except at night?

you have to have a pass to get there at all.

so don't know if I would waste a pass on a day time visit.

Unless they are REALLY keeping a surprise up their sleeve, it will most definitely not be a restaurant. No one really knows how they intend to use the space or how (or even if!) members will have access.

they really wont know about how that will work in detail until it gets much closer to the resort opening in August.

I would almost bet my life that somebody, somewhere within the Disney organization knows what this space will be. For whatever reason its a secret.
If I'm not mistaken wasn't there an artists rendering?

Well, of course someone knows what the space will be used for, they just aren't making it public yet. It is definitely not a restaurant - yes there were renderings. What is UNKNOWN is what sort of lounge it will be - will there be a bar/drink service or will it just have seating areas? Will guests have access to it or not? There is a similar observation deck at the Boardwalk that was supposed to be for BWV member use, but it very quickly was set aside for private functions (i.e., paying functions). If you look at the paperwork for BLT, you'll find that the lounge is not part of the development (not sure of the terminology to use here), so owners have no rights or claims to its use.

Therefore, what was said before stands - nothing has been said about how it will be used. And if anything had been said, it could change at any time.

I own at BLT and I'm not expecting to have access to the lounge. If I do, great.

Tara - we had access to BWV for the first few months - then they closed.

their excuse was too many members wanted to use it. With DVC or CR controlling who has access that should not be a problem.

getting their early and asking how to get access - is what I intend to do.

that say it will definitely be available for wedding/parties from day one.

Since Disney has figured out how to limit use, i.e., only allow one night per trip, then wouldn't it make sense to open the attic at BWV back up to guests?? especially when its not used for private events??

I won't hold my breath.

:rotfl:

BTW: I would love for it to be a Concierge type lounge. Could you imagine having a great lounge for fireworks viewing with free morsels of goodies and drinks? Again, I won't hold my breath.

Frankly, I was surprised they didn't incorporate a concierge level of service at BLT. But there's no telling how many points those rooms would have been!

Only if you sit through a DVC sales presentation, that is the only time I've ever seen free goodies come from DVC - is when they can tie it to the sales budget (and as a dues payer, that's a good thing - paying for someone else's martini while they watch wishes is not something I'd be too eager to do).

Which might be how it gets used - buy a contract while at Disney and get a reception in the BLT lounge to watch Wishes.

I'd love to see the Attic reopened - and if BLT does end up getting their lounge, might actually bother to write a letter to that effect. But since I suspect what that would accomplish is to spoil it for BLT owners instead of managing to open the Attic - I suspect I will just keep my mouth shut and let BLT owners enjoy it.

well it takes a couple of days to set up for these things? so maybe out for 3 days each time. (one day to prepare, have it, clean it up) Plus if members messed up the place. then it would have to be cleaned again.

so not sure with BWV since it is listed as a place to have reception - but yea it would wonderful!!!
