DH and I will be staying at BLT for the first time next month. We are NOT DVC members, but we are staying at BLT on DVC points rented from someone else. Will we have access to the Top of the World Lounge since we are staying on points? Or do you also have to show an actual DVC Membership card to get in? If we can't get in there, it's really no big deal. Plenty of other places to go at WDW. :thumbsup2 But I'd hate to try to get in there and then be told "sorry, but NO" by a CM. I keep picturing Fes from That 70's Show saying "I said good day!!" :rotfl:

As a renter you are not supposed to be allowed up but it will depend on the cm working the counter and your KTTW card. You may be asked to show a member card to go up or not.

last time we were the we needed to show both a room key and our dvc member card

The answer is maybe. Some have said that if your key card says DVC you are in. Other times the people checking will require a membership card in addition to the key. For that reason I'd say your best bet is to try it, and if a membership card is needed, don't be disappointed when you can't go up.

Like everyone has said I think it just depends. We stayed in June and were never asked to show a DVC member card. Just our room key, which I don't recall if it said DVC member or not. As stated here it seems to depend on which CM you have.

Good Luck and enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

Thanks for the replies! I don't want to break any rules, but if we actually have "legal" access to the lounge we might as well us it! If we don't, no worries. :goodvibes

Yesterday I met a fellow who mentioned he was staying at BLT. I asked if he had visited the lounge to view the fireworks, and he said he wasn't allowed because he wasn't a DVC member and there were signs indicating that you had to be to go there. That said, he was considering membership since he and his family were having such a great time staying there!:thumbsup2

If you don't get access to the TOWL, you can see the fireworks from the observation deck at the Contemporary on the 4th floor next to the BLT bridge.

:earsboy: Bill

FWIW - we've watched fireworks from:
The California Grill observation deck
Ohana - seated at the window w/fireworks view
Observation bridge between CR and BLT (probably my favorite of the options)
TOTWL
Our MK-view room at BLT
Narcosse's deck

NOTHING even remotely compares to watching them in the park. Nothing. At BLT you are a few minutes walk from MK. Watch the fireworks there.:goodvibes

As for TOTWL - we were unimpressed on our 2 visits. The last time we were at BLT we did not even go. (If they had had wifi access up there..................)

ITA - totally agree. If you like aerials -- watch from near Mickey's Philharmagic. If you like the whole show, and seeing Tinkerbell -- try the walkway by the Rose garden (Tomorrowland side) under TB's wire.

Unless it's a special show night -- I watched the MVMCP fireworks from the CG one night, when I wasn't going to the party -- it was fun to see the panoramic view of the fireworks (but they're still kind of smal and far away).

(the one time I went to TOTWL alone, the server totally ignored me -- walked by me twice with no offer of service, and there was plenty of time for a drink and dessert (my plan) before the show).

I only needed my KTTW card but that was in 2010. I agree that nothing beats seeing them in the park - I even think that watching them from the boat (on the way back to the TTC) or from the beach at the Poly was better than TOWL - but it's nice to go up have a drink and see them in the back ground. I actually like watching them from inside the TOWL and not the observation deck.

Wnjoy - we stayed at BCV our last visit (this August) and we won't be staying anywhere but BLT for years to come!!

Two weeks ago we watched them from the TOTWL, our balcony LV 1 BR, the obseration deck and thought about watching from the north elevator waiting area on the 8th floor. Could have also seen them from the living room area but kids were asleep and didn't want to chance waking them. All were equally good. They give a very different perspective as you can see how far behind the castle they really are. I agree that there is nothing better than being in the park and really like the bridge from the circle into tomorrow land. Tink was directly overhead when she flew and it was great. We were only asked for our room key which did say DVC on it when we went up to the lounge.
