Top Chef Masters - Who will be watching

I am still watching.:thumbsup2

Cool that they had to cook that way however using dried pasta was a bit of a super cheat in my book.

I agree and he was asked about it . But I think Art Smith was worse. He bought a container of rice cream and poured strawberries over it.

The last episode with Zooey the vegan, gluten free, no dairy, etc..show was a little odd.

I really like Bayless and Hubert Keller.

I think that overlooking the pre-made pasta would have been easier if he had done more with it or besides what he did.
The restrictions on them were pretty amazing. with the exception of the vegan part, our God kids have the same limitations. (It STINKS) but there is a lot out there that they can eat, so I was suprised that the actress said she rarely eats cooked food.

Anyone else still watching??? As much as I liked Art Smith I don't think he has the cooking chops of the other finalists. I hope Anita Lo gets her act together she doesn't seem herself. Also the coming attractions look great. It looks like they have past Top Chef contestants be Sous Chefs for the finalist. Dlae and Michael Chiarillo look like they almost come to blows. popcorn::

I am really enjoying this show! Its a nice change to see people be competitive but still be respectful and helpful to each other.

I am ok with Art going home. I think he is funny, but he just has not been as strong for either of the champions rounds shows.

It should be interesting to see what happens this week....

It seems like Dale got upset because Michael called him "young man". WOW. I surely don't get upset when anyone calls me "young lady", at this point I take it as a compliment! But Dale has a major attitude problem anyway. He could learn so much from these guys and how they get along with one another. I do love how they help each other. Just like last week when Rick's meat grinder wasn't working and Art gave him his. Earlier in one of the challenges someone was having trouble with a mixer I believe and someone else gave up theirs and even took it to their station. This is what being a true chef is about!

OH, I almost forgot. This morning a man was walking down the road on my way to work who looked a lot like Hubert. My husband & I were talking about how cool it would be if it were him. I said I'd call in work and we'd have to go pick him up and spend the day with him - if he didn't think we were complete freaks or stalkers.

I would love to spend some time cooking with him and Rick.

That's called the Raw Foods diet. I've met a few people on that and they are fanatics. :sad2: one even went onto say how one of the oldest living people was a man from China who was 112 years old. He used him as an example, saying the man said he practiced Chinese traditional medicine and and only ate vegetables.

But I know a lot about Chinese traditional medicine, their herbology and practices like Chi Gung & such. The Chinese traditionally cook everything including lettuce. Their 4000 year old research has shown that when you eat raw vegetables, the body actually has to work to produce extra enzymes and acids to "cook" the food inside the body to break it down. So the body has to actually do more work if you eat raw foods. Cooking breaks down foods to be more easily digested. Just because that old man said he was a vegetarian didn't mean it was RAW vegetables. If he was a traditionalist, it never would have occurred to him to have to say he cooked all his vegetables. It would be a given in the same way a Christian wouldn't have to state he believes in Christ.

An Indian woman was with us, and even she said that in her culture (which is mostly vegetarians too,) they also cook almost all their foods.

But this Raw Foods guy, and the few others I've met go nuts if you gently challenge their ideas that we are killing ourselves when we eat cooked foods. :scared1:

The evidence doesn't bear them out. Since the first cave man's ability to make fire, mankind has grown in strength, resistance & age. The populations in both India & China are growing. Neither are on the verge of extinction.

The Top Chef kitchen needs some technician to go over it with a fine tooth comb. The ice cream/sorbet maker wasn't working earlier in the season. In fact, it wasn't working when Stefan, last season, tried to make a sorbet and ended up making a cold soup or something instead. I think someone else had that problem, earlier, too.

Maybe that's why Art didn't even bother making a sorbet. He'd have all the ingredients, but no maker to make it with. :scratchin

OH, I almost forgot. This morning a man was walking down the road on my way to work who looked a lot like Hubert.

I've developed this strange crush on Hubert. He's definitely not the "type" I would go for as far as looks. Not sure how old he is. I guess I can't resist a man who cooks.:lmao:

I was sad to see Art go home but I agree that it was his time. I also have developed a crush on Hubert :lovestruc Here I am, 52 and :cloud9: with a TV Chef :lmao:

I love the respect these chef's show each other. What a difference from cut throat shows.

I've loved Hubert since the first episode of Masters! He was so gentlemanly about everything--he was the one who loaned his mixer to another chef, and set it up and everything. True class. He also won both the quickfire and elimination challenge--he just seemed head and shoulders above the other chefs. I woudln't call it a crush, but I'm a fan.

I love Hubert, Michael and Rick!!! I don't want any of them to lose. I was initially rooting for Hubert, but I've always loved Michael and Rick just won me over with his attitude. They all seem to truly LOVE to cook, and respect each other so much. It's been a joy to watch. But what is with Gael Greene always wearing hats? And is it just me or are Gael and James Oseland way too pretentious??

I am rooting for Anita Lo or Rick Bayless. Anita since she came out of the gate strong and I think a woman needed to do well in this competition, especially since there weren't even any women contestants for several rounds. Rick since he's the only chef whose restaurant I have been to and enjoyed and I like his personality.

Finally a vegetarian type challenge! That was so long overdue. :thumbsup2

It's really too bad that the show has not explained this because she is known for her hats. As a major NY restaurant reviewer for 40 years, she would always wear a hat whenever she appeared in public or before cameras to hide her face. She did this so that when she would go to review a restaurant, they would usually not recognize her and give her any special treatment or food. She would always make the reservation under a different name and would have her guests show up first to see where they were seated and how they were treated before she got there. Of course, after this show - well now everyone recognizes her!

OOOH nice trivia bit about Gael, suzannen!

I am loving this show..i really wonder if they will do another season of it, and what other top chefs they would choose. there are alot of good chefs out there! I personally would love to see Tom Collichio on there as a contestant, not that he really could, but that would be entertaining!

Another Hubert crush here! A good looking man with a adorable accent who can cook and seems to be a gentleman....mmmmmmmmm! I would not be disappointed if any of the others win but I'd like to see him stay til the end just so I can watch him. Is it tonight?

whoooo I love Michael Chiarallo. I have had a crush on him since his show "easy entertaining" on the food network. Boy can he work a crowd and schmooze with the ladies!

I am rooting for him or Bayless. I love this show and I really like the lady who hosts it. I think she is adorable.

Aren;t they called food snobs?

Gael absolutely frightens me. :scared1:

I can't stand her voice. It's too high and nasal. :headache: For someone who has to speak a lot, you'd think they'd get someone with a pleasant speaking voice. They did that the first season of Top Chef, too. Got a model-type, absolutely wooden personality, who was very nasal sounding.

Thanks for explaining that!! You're right, the show should mention something about that. I just thought maybe it was a quirk of hers.

Anita is an awesome chef! But I still have to pull for Hubert & Rick. I've been a fan of Rick's for well over 15 years now, if not 20. I can't wait to take a trip to Chicago to try one of his restaurants. Hubert we only discovered a few years ago but were VERY impressed by him immediately.

Thanks for sharing. That is very interesting.

I have to say I am not a fan of Michael. But he has shown a real human side that I never really saw before on his shows. I was really shocked to see that. He has done better than I expected. I'm on his side tonight in the Dale battle and hoping he puts Dale in his place!

I finally got to watch last week's episode this afternoon. I really like all of the chefs that are left. Any of them could win and I'd be happy with the outcome.

I always liked Michael's personality. I enjoyed on his Napa show how he'd have friends sit around his island at the end of his preparation to start to taste.

Hubert could make liver taste good, I'd think... and I'm not talking about it in a pate representation, but with onions... blech.

Rick is just someone I'd like to watch cook. He reminds me of the cooking school chefs that demonstrate in New Orleans. He's got the personality to be in front of people.

Anita is an amazing cook, but even though we're starting to see a little of her personality, I hope she goes home tonight.

I'd like to see Hubert and Michael in the finale. They've got the best friendly rivalry going on between them.
