My faves in some particular order
Donald's Safari Breakfast(Donald, Daisy, Mickey and Goofy)
Biergarten(an oom pah band)
50's Prime Time Cafe
Liberty Tree Tavern(Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Chip & Dale)
Hoop de doo Revue
Hoop de doo will appeal to everyone in your party. It's a corny show with great food and all you want soda, beer and wine. The show moves too quickly for most folks to get sloshed. Even the youngest will clap along with the songs.

Thank you. Do you know if the Rainforest Cafe at WDW is any different than the Rainforest Cafes elsewhere? We have one near here at the Mall of America and I've just never been impressed with the food or the service. The theme is okay, I guess. Do you know if they're exactly the same, or is there more to the one at WDW that might inspire me to try it?

We did not like the Rainforest Cafe at all. It provided the worst food and service we have ever had WDW. Actually, it provided the worst food and service I have had anywhere, in or out of WDW. Maybe we just caught it on a bad day but we will not be back.

Ohana (although I have heard they have changed a bit since our last visit)

Chef Mickey's (esp. if you want to see Mickey/Minnie!) - we always do dinner the first night we get there

Biergarten - just love the whole atmosphere, kids have so much fun, good food

Liberty Tree Tavern - my kids love the characters and food here

We went this Jan... Our servre was very good... She was quick and friendly.... We all picked simple things from the menu... I got a turkey wrap, DH got a burger and kids got the dino nuggets.... We were all happy with our food.... It came out hot and was good tasting.

So, I'm planning a trip to WDW for August of '09 (yes, I'm a planner). I'm wondering if some of you veterans would give me your top 5 list of best "theme" restaurants to eat while we're there. On my list right now is the 50s Diner and Coral Reef.

I'd like to include a character meal (preferably Mickey/Minnie) and then some other "fun" things that you just can't do anywhere but at WDW.

That is exactly what we are basing our upcoming trip on, is Theming, since I am bringing family that has NEVER been to Disney. So our choices are: Boma, Whispering Canyon, SciFi, Ohana', 50's Prime Time and Coral Reef. So I will certainly agree with the 2 choices you have already made. Chef Mickeys is certainly a good choice as well, if you are looking for a character meal. Enjoy!
