Top 20 Disney Websites

Thanks for the heads up mecllap. My apologies about not making the shopping sites easier to find. For now, I've lumped all shopping, collectibles and disneyana sites together into one category. I've labeled it as "Collectibles" but obviously this is misleading.

Thanks for the tips on MousePinsOnline and ShopTheParks. I'll add them during the next update and will include them in the appropriate categories the next time I update that.

So thanks again and I hope you have a great time on your WDW next month. The weather should be great!

Best regards,
Steve

Thanks Steve -- I guess most Disney shopping could fall under collectibles. I'm not recommending those sites -- I just wanted to see if you had them listed so I'd have an idea if they were well-known. I think Mousepinsonline says it's going out of business anyway. And Shoptheparks is somehow affiliated with Relive the Magic (at least it looks that way from an email I got after ordering something from Relive. . . ).
I couldn't find a way on theDisneyPortal to send an email, or ask a question there -- have you thought about adding that? (Or did I just not see it? -- except for suggesting a site?)

Hi again mecllap. Indeed, there was no way of contacting us directly. Per your request, we now have a "Contact Us" link. Feel free to contact me directly there if you have any other questions or feedback.

About the shopping sites you mentioned, I'm hoping to have those new sites included in the next 3-4 days. This update will also include a few dozen new sites, many of them sites about Disneyland Paris. This will push the number of sites we are tracking to over 275.

Have a great day!

Steve

Yeah this is cool.. I wish I had some of these sites before I went on my trip to keep me occupied while I was waiting for the time to pass.

And erroneously, best site for Photos ( http://www.thedisneyportal.com/tdp/show.asp?DisneySites=Collectibles ) although we admit that the rankings don't work well here and that http://www.themagicinpixels.com/ is really the best.

Thanks, Steve. That is really cool for you to say and I appreciate all the help you have given to my site. If you hadn't noticed, I re-skinned all of the galleries on the site and they have comment sections at the bottom of each photo so viewers can post a message on a photo that they like.

Again, thanks and I will be adding you to my links section as soon as I can.

This is a great thread, and I enjoyed reading it. Thank you to everyone who posted resources! But, I was surprised to see the first few pages filled with people posting just to subscribe. Is it little-known that you can subscribe w/o posting? It just makes a thread a little cumbersome to read so many posts that only say "subscribing." No biggie, really, but one can also subscribe by clicking on thread tools. :goodvibes

My pleasure, Tim. Your new gallery skin really has a nice look & feel. And I really like being able to leave comments. I left a comment for a Cirque du Soleil picture at:

I'd be patient in terms of waiting for your web traffic to pick up. The quality of your photos means that your site will stand out once people hear about it.

Steve

wonder why intercot.com didn't make the list.
May be because it has a bad reputation of censoring information on their site and Discussion Forums to steer you toward their sponsors.

Regarding Intercot, the site didn't get much positive feedback in our polls while a number of people gave the site negative feedback, like MissionMouse says above. In our ranking, Intercot dropped from #10 last week to #24 this week:

Yeah, I'm a little annoyed with Intercot right now, about their censoring. I tried to tactfully, without validating their written guidelines, mention that people could google to find minnierocks wonderful trip report (on Dis, but I didn't even mention Disboards) -- and they deleted it, saying "we don't want to direct our members to other discussion boards." So, I'm not going to be mentioning their website to anyone again!

Sorry to hear that mecllap. The best way board admins can keep their members is by having the best board possible for their users. To me, it's unacceptable to censor messages for that reason.

MouseOfPain: Thanks for the link to ClubDisney.net. We'll add your site into our next update. I really like Mattie Wilson's article on the home page called "The Magic of Disney to Me" (at http://www.clubdisney.net/ )

Orange Team: Thanks for your suggestion of Lost Epcot ( http://aatvideo.com/lostepcot/ ) which I think is a great tribute site. We'll get this added in the next update. BTW, I'm guessing your member name of "Orange Team" refers to the "Orange Team" option on Mission Space (ie, the "more intense" version). Correct?

Thanks again everyone for all the suggestions. These sites really do a great job at describing the heart of what Disney is all about and also do a great job in preserving Disney's history.

Kind regards,
Steve N.

I just thought I'd add one of my favorite sites to this discussion:

Lost Epcot! (www.aatvideo.com/lostepcot)

Thank you, Orange Team, for pointing us all in the direction of this awesome website!

As EPCOT is, and has always been, my absolute favorite of the WDW parks, this site just may have become my new favorite WDW site.

So, again--thank you very, very much! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

It's getting close to Halloween. I'd like to commend the many Disney sites who have donned Halloween themes on their site. I wish I would be able to highlight all of these, but we haven't tracked who has gone seasonal. However, we have noticed an uptick in traffic to two Haunted Mansion inspired sites, which makes sense. Along with user voting and Google Pagerank, here is what has happened over the past week:

DoomBuggies up 6 places from #21 to #16
GrimGhosts up 23 places from #51 to #28

This is based on our 10/19 update. We'll update the rankings on all sites every week or so. To see the ranking of all 300+ sites, you can visit:
http://www.thedisneyportal.com/tdp/...DisneySites.asp

By the way, some other "Halloween-ish" sites are worthy of mention:

Barrie's Squidoo page on Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Also, a number of sites of Disneyland Paris devotees really get into the Halloween spirit. To see these, just visit our Top Paris Sites at:
http://www.thedisneyportal.com/tdp/...sneySites=Paris

Mike Scopa of MousePlanet has written a great review of DoomBuggies:

Finally, here on Disboards there is a great thread on 2006 Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) with more than 300 replies. Hot topic:

Happy Halloween!
