toothpaste, deodorant and carry-on questions

Can you bring toothpaste and deodorant in your carry-on bag if they are less than the 3 ounces?

Also, can backpacks be our personal item in addition to our carry-on suitcase? We would put the backpacks under the seats in front of us. The Delta website doesn't specifically mention backpacks.

Yes on the toothpaste and deodorant. If the deodorant is solid, it can be any size and doesn't need to be in the 3-1-1 bag. This and much more information is available at tsa.gov (and there's an app for that ).

Yes, small backpacks that fit completely under the seat in front of the passenger are considered 'personal items'. If you reread the examples on the Delta - or any - website, they states something to the effect of, "...such as a purse, computer case...".

yes to back pack but it count a a personl item and the suit case will count as the second item so tht be it each person can bring a back pack as a personly item and a second item as long as it fit on the air plane. the tooth paste deodorant can go in your carry on as long as they comply with the
3-1-1 rule. the container can be no more then 3.4 oz stored in a one quart zip top bag ie zip lock bag. one zip top bag per person so if they both will total more then 3.4 oz then put one in one bag then the other one in the other bag.

Just to clarify, you can fit as many 3.4 oz items as you can in a 1 quart bag, there is no limit per se on the number of these items as long as the bag can close without breaking/bulging apart.

Example, in my 3.4oz bag I fit the following:

• .75 Oz Toothpaste
• .5 Oz Deodorant
• 1.25 Oz Spiking Glue
• 1.59 Oz Body Gel
• 1.7 Oz Face Wash
• 1.7 Oz Shampoo
• 1.7 Oz Conditioner

These items don't even come close to filling my one quart bag, but it is enough stuff to carry me for 3 - 4 days.

Then I pack my contact solution in the same compartment I store my 3-1-1 bag (contact solution does not have to fit in your 3-1-1 bag per TSA rules (niether does medicine).

Thank-you everyone for the replies! I had these crazy nightmares about them making me check all 5 bags and shouting to the whole airport about what I had tried to smuggle on board. Even though I read all through Delta's info. and the TSA info., I wanted to make sure I was reading things right.

tsa goes by oz the one quart bag can onlt carry item up to 3.4 oz or less if there more then 3.4 oz then you have to other throw out the extra oz or pu them in another bag. so each person traveling is allowed a one quart bag to put 3.4 oz or less in them. if tsa see alot of item in a bag in the xray they will pull the bag aside for futher inspection to add the oz up if 3.4 and under you will be okay over then you have to do something to bring it under the allownce. each person can only put 3.4 oz in there bag sorry if this just dont want you to get there and have to throw out things. they dont mess around with that so just make it easer bring new items because if you bring half used item because they go by the oz on the container so if it half used they go by the what the pack say. they cant determine oz by sight so bring new ones so you dont half to throw out items and waste your money,

Each item must be under 3.4 oz - it doesn't add up to 3.4 oz of multiple itemsin the 3 - 1 - 1. As the poster stated that you replied to, it can be multiple items, as long as each item is under 3.4 oz.

Took me awhile to figure out what you are saying - you might want to try and use some punctuation and a few caps.

Posting about using periods or caps in my post please if i gave bad info that one thing but to post about me not using a period or a cap letter.

It is very difficult to read posts when people don't use proper capitalization and punctuation. You may chose not to do so, but many people will just ignore your posts. If you are going to make the effort to answer a question, why not take an extra second to write so people can understand you?

Thank you! I had to read the post four times and then re-copied it into a word document and put in the punctuation and caps myself to figure out what they were saying - I took a lot of extra time to figure out so I could make sure they get the right information, when I probably could have saved myself a lot of time just passing over it.

But I didn't want the OP to get the wrong information.
