in need of a paint job according to my niece who was just visiting from Calif. She was at DL the week before she came to visit me and said that the paint is peeling at DL on the toontown buildings. She said the upkeep isn't what it used to be. Is this for real? Doesn't Disney watch this problem run down other parks? Anyone she can contact with her concerns?

The maintenance has been horrendous up until about 3 - 4 months ago. Much of Toontown has been repainted, thankfully. While there are still some areas that need a touch up, they haven't done it yet. It looks *much* better now than just a few months ago.

Disneyland maintenance is not allowed to pain anything above a second story. As you walk down Main Street, you'll see that the first two stories of the buildings are kept up well, but look any higher and you'll see plenty of peeling and cracking paint. :(

The good news is that it seems the reign of the marketing folks is coming to an end and the new park President Jay Rasulo is whipping things back into shape. This is not to say that it won't take time, but at least their progress.

The park is still beautiful, just not as meticulously cared after as in the past. I still love being there, and while these things do bug me, I find that most people never notice.

I find that most people never notice.

I think that people like myself, who don't live in the area and can only get there every year or three, are just so happy to be there that we don't notice. Every time I read online about peeling paint, etc, at DL, I tell myself that I will look next time I go but then never remember to do so (probably a good thing). If I was a SoCal AP holder I might notice the problem areas as well. As for Toontown, It looked good when I was there a month ago (To me anyway :D )

Thanks sgt - I don't get out to DL as much as I would like but I'm glad to hear that it is being maintained.
