No, but when you compare a 40" child to a child on hands and knees crawling (about 12" off the ground), not standing, that is a substantial difference. :)

Maybe, but if a six year old comes hurtling over a playhouse and lands on a 12 month old's head - I don't think it's going to make much difference if the 12 month old was crawling on the floor or standing up. He's going to get creamed either way.

That is very true, plus the weight difference has to be considered as well. I know I would be scared to have my little one who only crawls play in there with the older kids who run and walk, no matter how well behaved the other children are, but maybe that is just me.:confused3

Anyway, the OP should write in about her concerns, I don't think anyone has denied that. It is just a shame that no one thought to address the problem at the time. :confused3

ITA! A kid who is walking/running seems to stand a much better chance avoiding injury in a group of kids who are doing the same.

I guess there is just some different perspectives on this topic, my whole point is that parents should be proactive in deciding what is appropriate for their child and not wait until injury occurs.

I really am sorry for what happen to OP's baby and hopefully by complaining Disney will better monitor who gains entry.

Quite honestly, you'd much rather have my 7 year old daughter in there playing around your infant than my 3 year old. Since my younger DD was 1 she has been all over the place. She climbs, jumps, and pretty much knows how to run. We have a playground at our mall, and she needs to run her energy off just as much as the infant does. I'm not saying that the toddler has more rights than an infant, just that they have pent up energy too. Personally, I think that if infants are allowed in a play area, it should be a play area for infants only, not even toddlers. Anyone who is walking, not crawling, poses a threat to an infant, because they might step on their fingers.

If you had my DD3, my niece3, and my nephew 1 and had to choose one to have around your child in a playground it would be tough to say. My niece weighs more than my duaghter, so if she fell on your infant it would hurt more. My niece is also mean. So, while my daughter is more likely to step on your infant because she is running, my niece is more likely to hit your child because they are on the slide she wants to be on. And, my nephew is 1 1/2 and weighs over 30 pounds. He weighs mores than my daughter. And, while he's not going to run, he doesn't walk very well, and loses his balance easily. You'd much rather have my DD step on your infant's fingers than have my nephew plop down on your child.

It does sound like the OP had some rough kids in the playground that a CM should have removed. I agree that it should have been taken care of at the time. There was supervisor there the whole time we were there. But, I don't think it's Disney's fault. It is the fault of parents who don't supervise their children.

I am quite sure that Goofygal WAS watching HER one year old child. I absolutely DO agree with her that if the playground is for children under 40 inches tall, someone should be making sure that the kids entering ARE under 40 inches! I have three girls, my youngest being 4. When we were in Toontown, my youngest who is very small for her age and definately under the 40 inches wanted to play. My other two girls who are 8 & 9 quietly sat on the bench with me and watched her. They were honestly too big to be playing there and they understood that. The area is designed for toddlers and pre-schoolers. Are there parents who let their older children run around there? Of course there are and it is not right. I agree that a CM should monitor the entrance so that the little ones have someplace to play and not have a bunch of older wild children running along with them. It just is not fair. I am a Mom who definately watches her kids and if they accidently step on or push etc.. another child, I do make them apologize. Not every parent is like this unfortunetely.
