Toon Lagoon needs refurbishment

I believe that toon lagoon needs refurbishment. This July I went to islands of adventure and was disappointed with the condition toon lagoon was in. All I think is that a fresh coat of paint would make the area a lot better.

I don't think it's Toon Lagoon as a whole. But Rip-Saw Falls is kind of an embarrassment. That should be closed in the winter and done properly. The ride smells bad, it's uncomfortable, the "effects" are awful, and the building itself is in unacceptable shape. In contrast to how fantastic the rest of Universal looks, it's bizarre.

Same really goes for Dr. Doom. The queue and actual ride area itself is filthy.

If Universal truly wants to compete with Disney, they need to fix these issues.

I remember being in IOA back in 2008 and we felt the same about Seussland (or whatever the actual name is lol).
It looked washed out and old and tired - it was really noticeable to us compared to how it had been on past trips and, like you said OP, it felt like some fresh paint would have gone a long way!
We're visiting IOA again this Sep and while I'm looking forward to some of the attractions I've never been terribly enamoured with the theming.

It's a very strange thing about IoA. Some of it, is themed beautifully (Port Of Entry, WWOHP). And some of it looks like a traveling fair.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Toon Lagoon completely redone with another theme in the not so distant future. There is a lot of wasted space that can be used to put in some family rides.

I do believe the entire area is painted once a year. The bright colours are really tough to keep vibrant in the hot FLorida sun.

I don't see a problem so much with the paint job. Rip Saw Falls is just a mess in general. It's a fun ride, but cosmetically, is awful looking.

I think it is quite attractive on the outside and draws quite a crowd to watch and to spray! My complaint is more about the theatre and the games area. I'd love to see that all bulldozed and used better.

Personally, I'd get rid of everything except Popeye (it is easily rethemed) from right outside the JP gates all the way to Marvel. It really is a huge space that could be done to add those last family rides that would make IOA perfect. I'd get rid of the whole cartoon theme since most kids under 18 don't even know who those characters are.

Seuss has been getting a lot of attention lately it seems- the area is bright and colorful now. I think you'll find the parks look much better than in 2008, since Potter opened they have really been putting a lot of money into the parks and I think they look great.

Yes I'd hear this was the case and it makes me so happy! Some of my happiest memories from childhood Florida trips are from Seuss (loved getting our parents wet on the 'One Fish' thing), and so I'm looking forward to seeing it looking all cheery and great again. :)

I see DS's lack of knowledge about those things as an opportunity to tell him about them! I say don't get rid if it, but teach people who those cartoons are, how they were funny, how they were relevant, and why they are important.

But I wouldn't mind putting some pants on poor Cathy above the ice cream shop. They can change that. :)

You`re right....the parks keep getting better and better and look great :)
