Was it just me, or has anyone else had serious trouble breathing in the Rainforest Steamrooms? Had never gone to the Spa, finally went last cruise during a rainout day at CC, enjoyed the heated loungers, found the dry sauna room to be pleasant, but the steam rooms, even the one that is labeled as gentle , or mild, or something like that, seemed too thick to take a breath (for reference, I am a 41 yr old non-smoker with normal pulse and blood pressure). Anyone else respond like that, or am I just not cut out for any steam rooms. I'll admit, it had been a while since I had been in a steam room, but I never remember having to retreat in 20 seconds before. Also--was there some form of direction for the scented showers that was posted but which I did not see? It seemed like experimentation as to which direction the water would come from. All in all, I found the Rainforest a relaxing experience, but I thought that the steam was too oppressive and so the available options were fewer in my case. Anyone else have thoughts to share?

I like how they had the three different temperature steam rooms. I prefer the most steamy so I didn't have breathing trouble.
BUT, when DH and I did the Surial he had serious trouble breathing in there. The Rainforest would not be something he would enjoy.

I have my favorite spots in the rainforest. I like the heated loungers. There is very mild steam in that big room. Starting on the right of the loungers--I like this room, but the benches are so hot that I put on my towel like a superman cape so that no part of my body touches the benches. This is sort of a "10 minute" room for me. Next is the very hot steamy room. I like this one, but can't stay in it for more than a few minutes. This is the heaviest steam. Finally, the room to the left of the loungers--there is something about the steam level or the scent in this room that just doesn't do it for me. I can't tolerate this room for more than a minute or so, and don't like it.

As to the showers in the rainforest, I've never managed to figure them out and get them to work right.....

DEFINITELY ask someone how to operate them next time. They are heavenly -- the scents are SO relaxing! :goodvibes

Not too steamy for me, sorry. I loved them. I couldn't tell the difference between the two, but I know I loved the scent of the supposedly stronger one, so I spent more time in there.

I know when I haven't been in a steam room for awhile, it takes a few minutes to get used to them. It is hard to breathe for the first few minutes - especially depending on what part of the cycle you walk in on. What I mean is there are times when steam is pouring into the room, and then gradually it dissipates. As soon as there is just a little steam left, more steam pours into the room.

Whenever it's at the peak of the cycle, yes, it's more tough to breathe. But I just focus on breathing and enjoying the sweat rolling off me and it really relaxes me. By the time I've been in there awhile, I start to enjoy the peak times.

Not too steamy for us..we love them.

They can be a little steamy your first time if you don't know what to expect.

Logan1, I have to agree with you. I had a difficult time in 2 of the rooms, not the room to the right of the main door. I could only stay in for a brief time.

I've never smoked, am not overweight and in very good physical health, so I'm not sure why it was a problem. I felt like I had a brick on my chest.

I did enjoy the mild room to the right. I also take a towel to sit on because the seats are HOT!!! It was a great place to read and take a quick power nap!!!

The mild one was okay for a brief time, but the stronger one was too thick for me to breathe as well. I too did not figure out the showers :confused3 the one on the left was TOO hot - I could not get the temp adjusted and never noticed the scent. The one on the right had a cool fog that was great, but the water temp was not quite right with it either. I had sort of a goldilocks experience with these things :p This one's not quite right, this one's not quite right, but these heated chairs are JUST RIGHT! :hyper:

we enjoyed them all in moderation. it was the highlight of our trip

My Survival Item for the Steamrooms: Big Cup Of Chipped Ice!

I cannot handle steamrooms, and when it got tough for me, I left the small individual room I was in. I noticed the ice in that Lion head fountain that is next to the aromatherapy room and there were cups by the showers, so I took a cup of the ice into the steamroom with me and just breathed into the cup and breathed back the cold air into my mouth. That technique let me enjoy all the steamrooms for about 15-20 minutes in each.

On sea day when it was more crowded, a lady I was speaking to was having a hard time, so I suggested the ice and she got it and we were both able to sit in the aromatherapy room and chat for quite a while.......

Next time try the chipped ice! :flower:
