Too much spending money?

I personally would rather take too much and come home with some then not have enough!

AMEN I just got back two weeks ago and too paid OOP on dining. I took my daughter and grand daughter and even being frugal money down there just melts away.

I just saw at our credit union that there is like a travelers check debit card. Maybe I am wrong on the wording, but I would check with a local credit union or bank on that. At least if you lose a travelers check, you can get those replaced. Just make a photo copy of them. I don't know if I would have that much cash on hand. I don't have an cc either, but did use my debit card in Disney.

We got one of those a few years ago and it was a disaster. We bought one for a certain amount of money, having a pretty good idea how much we use and would need. We put it down on our room so we could charge our purchases back to the room key and not have to carry cash or the card itself with us. When we checked out they ran it through.....since it was a hotel that was running it through the card added on an extra %age - a forget how much 10 - 20%. When we got to the hotel we were staying at that night on the road it didn't go through. We knew we should have a couple hundred dollars left on the card because we had only used it to settle out our Disney charges. I called the card company and found out that for hotels, restaurants the add on an extra percentage when its run until the actual charge comes through....in case we want to add a tip at a restaurant or if there were incidental charges at a hotel. Over a weeks worth of meals and souvenirs for a family of 5 adds up to quite a bit at Disney then to take and extra chunk and make it unavailable?? Fortunately we had another credit card on us that we were able to use for that room. In the end we got the money back off the travelers check card - but it didnt do us any good on the road. We won't use one again. I didn't like not knowing how much I had available. So we use actual traverlers checks. I put so much down on the room to start with then as we start using it during the week I add to it. I keep the rest in the safe in the room. We take some cash with us to have for tips or for a bottle of pop or somewhere that doesn't take the room key as a charge.

Make sure you read through ALL of them terms and conditions with a very critical eye. Also, don't buy the Disney Visa gift cards with a credit card. Most companies will charge them as cash advances which more often than not have a base one time fee and then a higher interest rate that accrues daily. Those can get REALLY expensive.

SAME thing happened to us...with a 'regular' VISA from our local credit union. There was a new policy' that was put into place. We have been using our card for years at WDW, had a problem this past Feb - same problem you experienced! Luckily we had other alternative methods of payment/money to use. We wont be using this VISA for restaurants any longer because of this 'double hold' put onto our card. To add insult to injury, it took over 7 days to clear from our card!
