Too many surprises for one trip!

I am so pumped for our upcoming trip!

First, we planned this trip spontaneously when FD came out, even though we were just there in January. On that trip, we sprang it on the kids on Christmas morning, so they had about a month to anticipate and plan. After the trip they said they would rather be surprised about any future trips to WDW, since we had done that on our other trips. So surprise trip it is.

We plan on telling them they have to leave school an hour early for a doctor's appointment, have to stop at our house for the insurance card, and have the suitcases with their Mickey ears sitting on top of them in the foyer when they walk in. Then we'll head straight to the airport.

When I told my good friend about our trip, and asked them if they wanted to come along, she surprised me a few weeks later and said that they were! Our kids all get along great, especially the older ones. They look forward to whenever we can get together with them. She's keeping the trip a secret from her kids too. Weirdly enough, one day we were talking about WDW with the kids and what we want to do on our next trip, and my DS says "wouldn't it be great if the xxxxxxx's could come with us on our next trip?" I swear he's psychic sometimes.

So not only is the entire trip a surprise, but I can't even imagine the looks on my kids faces when they see our friends at the hotel (they're even staying at POR like us)!

Since both of our trips are official, we have had several phone planning sessions while the kids are in school, and have at least 5 meals together. I think this is going to be our best trip yet.

Yes, I am so excited that I find myself texting my friend all the time about something to share/plan about the trip. I'm kind of afraid that I'm being a bit of an obsessed stalker and that she's regretting her decision to go with us. I told her that she'll be begging to get on that plane by the end of their trip(they arrive at WDW 1 day before us and leave WDW 2 days before us). I also tried to tell ther that compared to some Disers, I'm relatively mild on the WDW obsessed scale. No offense fellow Disers.

What a great plan! We did not surprise DD with this trip, but we plan on surprising our kids with a caribbean family vacay some day.

I am terrible with keeping that kind of secret and told my kids from the start I was planning a trip but it gave them a chance to participate in the decisions so they are excited about that.We were supposed to go in Aug but my youngest had medical issues so we had to postpone...I then found out my sister in law is going down and taking my niece for her 1st time....she is waiting til they are on the plane to tell her where they are going.Well we reschedualed our trip to overlap theirs so she will get an added surprise to run into us at the MVMCP!!! Her mom begged us to go at the same time but now my kids are about to explode from keeping the secret

That sounds great! I don't know if my kids could keep the secret, so good luck with that.

Btw, howdy neighbor. Nice to see someone close to home on the Disboards. AND you're leaving the day after us and are staying at the resort next door. I'm sure we'll be on many of the same buses to the parks and boats to DTD! Enjoy your trip.

Yayyyyyy! I have never been able to get a trip a surprize, but have taken my daughters on 2 Best Friend Trips to Disney World. Best time ever!!!

We surprised our kids once when they were 9 and 11 - we picked them up from school early and said we were going to Syracuse to see my friend for dinner (we were flying out of Syracuse airport). I told them that she said there was a cool new restaurant at the airport, we could watch the planes take off and land. We got to the parking garage at the airport and popped the trunk and there were the suitcases....PRICELESS!

We are doing sort of the same thing! We are picking ours up early from school for a "dentist" appt. and when we are nearing the airport my DH will turn around and ask them if they could fly anywhere at that moment where would it be? (They have been saying for MONTHS now they want to fly to Disney so hopefully they will that time!) We will say "okay, let's go, good thing we have our bags packed!!" We have almost slipped so many times in the last week or so, we BETTER keep this a secret! I was worried about packing and then not knowing but we ended up buying a house that we are moving into the weekend after we get back so all the packing will hopefully just blend in
