Too many points?

We bought5 SSR in April. The incentive was an extra year's points, use year in September.
We are planning a small weekend trip in September, costing around 56 points.
We have already banked that "extra" year, and have more points coming in Sept.
Does that extra year expire THIS September? If so, I will want to rent out the 100+ points we have, but I don't want to do that if they are good next year.
I'm just confused, I guess. I will have to call our member rep tomorrow.
When you're new, this stuff is a little overwhelming!

Sounds like you received your 2007 points, and have coming your 2008 points, but I'm confused as to whether you received more points than that by your post.

If you banked the 2007 points, they are now in your 2008 use year, which runs Sept 2008 - Aug 2009. So you currently have a year's worth of points in your 2008 use year and another year's worth coming, all of which can be used until the end of the 2008 use year.

I hope I understood the situation correctly, but I think that's what you were asking.

In addition, the points you will receive in September can be banked into the following use year - giving you until August 31, 2010 to use those points coming in September.

It does take a little time to figure out all of the ins-and-outs.

I can use those "extra" 160 points until Sept 2009, then they disappear.
Since we are planning on going again in 2009 December (I hope we get in!) I should use up the initial 160 points BEFORE Sept 2009. I was afraid I had to use them before Sept 2008!
Whew! Big relief!
