Too many kids

Depending on the ages of your children, DCL won't "overbook" a certain age group for the kid's clubs sake . Just in case there are 450 5-year olds and only 15 9- year olds.

I feel for you, TallyLassie, but I do like DCL's policy.:earsgirl: Hope you find a good alternative date!::yes::

We booked the POFQ for 10/21 - 10/24. Got a great fall rate, so I can't complain.

That is great! They are having some excellent rates for the resorts right now. I just booked our precruise stay & was amazed at the savings. :) It really is for the best that they limit the number of kids on each sailing. That is the only way that they can guarrantee unlimited access during the cruise.

They have a number limit in each kid age group. THat way, when your child wants to go to the Club or Lab, there is a very good chance that they will be able to get in. They don't want children disappointed by not being able to participate in the programming.

Do like those of us who do not get Florida-last-minute-discounts. Book a year or more ahead and you won't be so upset, but then you won't get a Florida resident discount, either, like those of us in the other 49 states. Or are you talking about 2005?

Carla

This happend to me once and I ran into a CM with personality. She told me that my wife and I were welcome to sail, but we would need to find a babysitter for our daughter.

The cruise for was October 21, 2004. It was a last minute thing. When I received the school calendar for this year, there were two planning days back-to-back, so the teachers could attend a conference.

Yes, the Florida discounts are good, but the one I used for POFQ was just the fall discount available to everyone.

I am sailing in a couple weeks. We were trying to add my infant nephew to our reservation to help out my sister who's husband is away on military duty.

DCL insists that the ship is full and his all of 15 pounds or so would just tax the ship too much or they don't have enough lifejackets. (Titanic like problem you know...)

Geez.....

He doesn't eat much....doesn't take up much space.....Is too young to be in the clubs.....

Perhaps he can fit in your carry-on?:worried: :confused3

(oh, come on now, we all saw THAT coming!) :rolleyes1 :earboy2:

That may be a muster station issue. They probably only want so many infants to worry about in each lifeboat. And they may indeed only have so many infant lifejackets aboard.

Yeah, but If we robbed a bank and upgraded to a category 2 cabin (which that insist is all that is left) for DCL's inventory that is....

They would let him on.....

Hmmm... I have a backpack with mesh sides to it.... If he's really stilll....

(NO I REALLY WOULDN'T DO THAT)

hehehehehehe  :teeth:

so the kid limit is at it's max unless you pay to upgrade to a cat 2??? What's up with that???

It could be that our cabin is for three people and not for four. (Even a very small fourth.) DCL used to have a deck plan that showed which cabins were which (occupancy). Is that still around anywhere on the net ?

Our cabin so far is 7119.

Is there anyone on deck 7 with category 11 inside that is rated for four and only has 2 or 3 that would be willing to switch?

(If it were possible.)

P.S. I want to take my dnephew because his daddy is on military tour and my sister has reserves that week.

Goofyforlife, does your date have a thread on the Cruise Meets? You might try posting there. Strange, I thought the suites were always booked years in advance.

Carla

GoofyForLife,

I do think the limits for kids and babies is a safety issue.

However, I do see your dilemma and how it would be a great help to your sister's family. Could you ask them to put you all on a waiting list? Or keep calling back in case someone else with a baby cancels?

If it is a cabin occupancy issue, that is different. My brother has twins and had to get a Cat 3 b/c DCL insisted that was the only stateroom which could hold 2 cribs at one time.

Good Luck.

Someone recently posted here that there is a capacity issue at the muster station as well. So the category 2 may still have "room" in its lifeboats for a baby, while your muster station has the max number of infants.
