On the thread WMAlex started about NO residents being forcibly removed, MoniqueU posted the following --

Now the governor is saying that she will not enforce the mayors use of force to remove people from homes. I guess they are not on the same page. She wants to test the water before she makes up her mind.

And herein lies the problem. Who the heck is in charge? A better question (and the main reason I started a new thread rather than hijack the other) is, who the heck is supposed to be in charge?

Mayor Nagin, who ordered the evacuation and is ultimately in charge of the New Orleans PD and other first responders?

Governor Blanco, since the fallout is affecting the entire state and she has authority over the LA National Guard and the state Emergency management department?

President Bush, since the hurricane struck multiple states, New Orleans evacuees fled to all parts, and he can order federal aid in various forms?

None of them wants to surrender any authority they may have to another, even if doing so will lead to a solution. So you have the Mayor saying holdouts will be forcibly evacuated, but the Governor is saying "wait a minute".

How about if we send in Tommy Lee Jones to be in charge? He did pretty well against a volcano, and he also fought aliens, so he should be able to whip this problem into shape. :teeth:

This has been the problem from day 1. There is no one in charge and the mis communication is causing all kinds of problems then the blame game begins.

The title of this thread says it all, TOO MANY CHIEFS.... Nobody knows what is going on. It's ridiculous.

Okay, I ended my OP in jest with the Tommy Lee Jones comment, but ...

I just saw General Honore on the news. He's got the "grab the bull by the horns and show him who's boss by headbutting him into dizziness" attitude that's needed.

I haven't seen to much of this guy, but I like him. :)

I just saw that too. Someone needs to put him in charge of the entire situation. I like him too.

General Honore is Commander of Joint Task Force Katrina. :cool1:

That's true. What I meant was over the other 3 chiefs that can't seem to get on the same page.
