How many character meals are too many?
This trip will be myself, my husband, our 3 yr old son (very close to 4), my mom & her husband.

This is our very first trip to Disney. So far we have
reservations for the following character meals

Breakfastosaurus (Breakfast)
Chef Mickey (Breakfast)
1900 Park Faire (Dinner)
Princess Storybook (Breakfast)

We are also going to try to get into Cinderella's Castle too. <crossing fingers for that one>

I mentioned that if we can't get into Cinderella's Castle that maybe we should try Crystal Palace instead. First how quickly does Crystal Palace fill up? If I wait a few days after my first allowed day of calling could I still get a spot?

Then the others in my party said that we should do the Crystal Palace character meal anyway (thinking maybe for a lunch or dinner)

So, let's say we do get into Cinderella's Castle, that would be a total of 6 character meals (including Crystal Palace) Is that too many? We will be there for 13 days, with two day taking off and visiting Sea World & Kennedy Space Center.

I just don't know if 6 is too many? But then I don't know which ones to omit. I REALLY want the Breakastosaurus..so that WILL stay ;) And of course if we get into the Castle, that will stay.
My mother really wants to go to Chef Mickey so that one will have to stay also. ;)

Any suggestions?? Is this too much? My mom's husband theory is "we have to eat anyway" :o so he said just to keep all the character meals.
I am a little worried about cutting into the park hours, but the Breakfastosaurus is at 8:10 & the Princess in Norway is at 8:30 so they are early enough not to interfere too much. Chef Mickey is at 8:30.

Sorry this is so long. Thanks for any advice.

Is there such a thing

We always do many character meals. Crystal Palace breakfast at least twice, sometimes 3 times - Chef Mickey's once or twice and a few others mixed in there.

We are going to Disney next Feb for 11 days and we have just as many character meals. At first I thought this may be overwhelming for my 5 year old, he may get sick of all these characters but then I thought this may be his last trip to Disney until his honeymoon it might as well be filled with characters. Of course when you get there and you see that your son is getting bored of them you can always just not go to a few, that is what I am betting on. Good luck!

DH's philosophy is eat with the characters whenever possible! If your group is into it, then go for it. You'll notice most character meals are either buffets or all you can eat family style. That's so you can get in and out as fast as YOU want. Some people think they try and rush you...I have never felt rushed anywhere, and that includes Cindy's. Just to give you an idea about what we did in December...and keep in mind that it was me, DH, DS 7, DD 6, grandma and grandpa.

Cindy's
Princess Storybook
Garden Grill
Liberty Tree Tavern - dinner
Chef Mickey's breakfast
Hollywood & Vine - lunch

We didn't want to do Breakfastosaurus this time around as we wanted to hit the Safari first thing onour AK day. We'll eventually hit that because DH wants to go to every character meal on property, and they have an omelet station:) We also plan to do Cape May Cafe breakfast this June as we are staying at BCVs.

We were there 7 days so we did an average of one character meal per day. We weren't commando-ing the parks and were happy to enjoy the meals as well so as not to feel like we were missing out. We know we will always be back so we don't worry too much about wasting time eating. Eating is part of the enjoyment for us (okay, me!)

So do what you think is best for you. I am sure it will be fine!

I don't think there's such a thing as too many character meals! LOL!

Well, maybe Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner every day would be a bit much, but even though it's just DH and myself, we rarely have a day without a character meal. :)

If this helps, we are going in May (dh, dd5, dd3) and we have PSs for:

Chef Mickeys
Cinderella's Royal Table
Cinderella's Gala Feast
Crystal Palace
Princess Storybook Breakfast

And I tried to get a PS for Hollywood & Vine right when they cancelled the character meals.

So, I guess if there is such thing as too many Character meals, we would be right there with you!

Thank you guys! I was beginning to wonder if we were going overboard but I guess we will fit right in! :D

I think we will do Crystal Palace even if we get into Cindy's Castle. Now I just have to decide if we want to do CP's breakfast, lunch or dinner!!!

Thanks again

We do one c.breakfast every trip. Then, sometimes we a character lunch or dinner also. I'm sure you can't do to many but by doing just a few, they sem to be more 'special' to DD than if we were doing them everyday. Have fun!! I'm sure your DS will let you know! ;)

I think it looks great. If your child gets his fill of characters at meals you will spend much less time standing in line in the parks to meet them. This however assumes that your child will not be afraid of the characters, and that he will not be so consumed by them that he will not eat any food! Not a problem for a meal or so but if many of your meals are character, it might get old to pay for his meal and then have to go get him something an hour later. I would make them all amd just change them if your get overwelmed in any way.

I was thinking the same thing about our plans. We leave Thursday for a seven day trip and will be doing

Chef Mickeys (dinner)
Crystal Palace (lunch)
Cinderellas Gala Feast (dinner)
Princess Storybook Breakfast

with me, DH, DD almost 3, DD 20 mos, and my parents.

Your posts made me feel a better! Have fun and thanks.

During our ten day trip, we also had a bunch of character meals: Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree Tavern, Cinderella's castle, and the Ice Cream Social, as well as the Wonderland tea Party for my two youngest. At that time, my kids were 8, 6 and 4.

I also agree with previous posters...it was so much easier to see the characters at meals. Our trip also was over part of spring break, with HUGE crowds, and having a PS SOMEWHERE was really important....it gave us a break from the crowds.

If you are traveling with young kids, I think character meals are the way to go.
