Too many character meals booked

i am leaving for Disney in a week and a half and I am reviewing my meal options and realizing that we are very character meal heavy. I am going with a group of eleven (six adults and five kiddos ranging from two to six). It’s the other two families first visit so I want to do some of the classics. So I need to figure out which ones to ditch.

1) We have lunch at Cinderella’s Royal Table booked. I also have dinner at 1900 Park booked for our first night. Is that overkill because we are doing CRT? Initially I booked because I thought it would be a for fun first night and we have never been.

2) We have dinner at Chef Mickey’s and Tusker House and lunch at Minnie’s Seasonal Hollywood and Vine. I want to cancel two of these. I am leaning towards canceling Tusker House for Yak and Yeti and Chef Mickey’s for the Pirates and Pals cruise. Thoughts? The Minnie’s at H&V is the fantasmic package. My alternate to that would be to book the Star Wars dessert party. I could keep more than one but is that overkill?

We also have breakfast at Ohana booked because my daughter loves Pluto and Stitch. If we do cancel 1900 Park, does anybody have a recommendation for a restaurant at Disney Springs that’s good for kiddos. We are staying at AKL. No meal plan but I do have TIW.

1. 1900 Park Fare: This is SO FUN for a first night to kick off the trip. Keep it. Very different feel than CRT. The stepsisters and Lady Tremaine at 1900PF are hysterical. This is now an all-time favorite for us. We kicked off our Sept. trip there and it was a riot.

2. I would cancel Tusker House and Chef Mickey and replace them with your suggestions. We had amazing character interactions at H&V. The food isn’t amazing or anything but we really liked that character experience. We don’t really like any of the other food at DHS anyways.

Honestly, with little kids, most of our meals are character meals. It’s entertaining for the kids, usually a buffet or family style meal so you get your food quickly.

Well I've switched every single adr on our upcoming trip at least 1-2x so I'm probably not a good one to give advice.

I do think that CRT, 'Ohana breakfast and H&V is a good mix. How about Biergarten, that's also fun for kids and a good group restaurant? Tusker House to Yak and Yeti sounds fine, I'm not familiar with the Pirates cruise so don't want to steer you in the wrong direction there.

Either way you'll all have a blast. :D

I would keep Chef Mickey’s. With the ages of your little ones, it is a great experience & you meet the Fab Five.
I agree with the switch from Tusker to Yak & Yeti.
In Disney Springs for kids there is Rainforest Cafe; TRex is also there but could be scary for some kids in your group.
Definitely keep CRT; We’ve been on pirates & pals & it’s recommended if you have big fans of Captain Hook, Smee and Peter Pan. None of them are on the actual cruise itself (you meet them before & after) I think the cruise itself is more for the adults. Knowing my DD & DS at that age, I’d probably skip that one this time.

As much as I enjoy Tusker House switching for Yak & Yeti is a good idea the food there is always good. You might want to keep Chef Mickeys because meeting the Fab Five there will save you two or three hours in lines to meet them at the park. I really can't stand H&V but have done the breakfast so the girls could meet the characters there. Have you thought of switching the breakfast there for a lunch at Mama Melrose? You can do their fastasmic package as well.

We really enjoyed Crystal Palace and BonVoyage breakfast, I would drop Chef Mickey for either of those. Specifically because Winnie the Pooh and gang save a lot of time waiting in lines too, and BonVoyage is the only place to meet Eric and Flynn. If your girls are fans of either of these movies, it is a MUST!

I recommend dropping H&V, we loved Tusker House. Drop Chef Mickey, add Bon Voyage or Crystal Place if your kids would want to meet Tigger & Pooh, etc.

Tusker House and Ohana breakfast were one of our favorites! I would cancel chef mickey and H&V.

IMO, I would cancel the Hollywood and Vine. Too many people say the food is not good at all. On the other hand, the buffet at Tusker House is one of if not the best buffet at WDW.
As far as CRT, I mean how can you say no to the castle?? The one draw that 1900 Park Fare has is the unique variety of face characters you get to meet. Hope that helps!

1900 park fare is fab we love it. We have been 3 times and the food and characters have always been great. I recommend T-Rex in Disney Springs for the kids. They will be amazed

If you’re not an adventurous food eater cancel tusker house. Character interaction isn’t great and food is not worth it IMO. Skip Ohana so you can get to the parks faster. With 2 families who have never been they probably want to experience the parks and not eat so much. Also skip either Hollywood and vine or chef mickeys. I would skip chef mickeys if your not in a monorail resort - otherwise it’s just more travel time (not a lot but any time you need to leave and go thru security is a time suck. My vacation time is precious).
