So our plan is to stay at the Pop for 2 weeks starting September 11, 2010.

We need adjoining rooms one being a wheelchair with roll in shower.

Doesn't matter about the bed(s).

I'm trying hard to see what the fall promotion is going to be.

So do you think its fine to wait until the end of the month to book or I should be doing it now as it can be difficult to get the rooms the way we need them?

Although no rooms are guaranteed, Special Needs Rooms are put thru another reservationist, (in my experience) so be sure to ask them to PLEASE put you thru so that your reservation can be noted with what you require. They are very good at trying their best to make those accommodations available to you. . Personally I would book and then indicate your preferences now, rather than later. You can always update your reservation...;).

September is Value season to start. The offer that has been added the last several years is Free Dining! You could book with a Travel Agent and they will keep track of the special offers and help get you the best deal. The TA will also be able to easily make the specail request that you need.

Personally, I would book now. There is no guarantee of w/c accessible room availability if you wait, although you could certainly try for availability at another resort. Still, why not book at Pop and get your room guaranteed now? If a promo becomes available, you can always call to modify your existing reservation. I always book early to secure what I need as a few times I've been told that the resort I wanted was sold out of roll-in shower rooms.---Kathy

Agree; book now. You can always update if one of the many promo's come out. They might have to redo the reservation (depending on what you book now and what you will book than, for instance; they can not switch between room only and package and vice versa without having to make a new ressie), but at least you would know there is availability.

September is a slower time but with free dining, it seems like the value resorts are more popular. Not just that, but Pop is the most popular.

To give you an idea; we've had our trip booked since november 2009 for september/oct 2010. Around januari, it was decided that we wanted to switch the last week we had booked at BC to CBR, so we could do 3 consequative weeks at CBR. Lo and behold; there were no rooms with a roll in shower available for that week anymore! Took me about 10 days of calling in daily before it opened up. That was at almost 10 months out!

I always go during value seasons and have had this experience before with months and months to spare for the trip (probably doesn't help that I've been infected with the resort-switcharoo). With keep trying it tends to work out on the long run, but have had that fall through before.

Thanks so much the tips are very helpful. Going to book tonight if the maintenance ends ever and then will start to set up the rooms with the special reservation line.

One more quick question. We want 2 adjoining rooms is there a way of doing it while booking online or when i phone in is that where they will change it and update the price of it.

I personally would just call the normal reservations number. Tell them the deal you want if any and your needs. Let them call up the special reservations people to block your rooms.

I've always done this and never had a problem. I'd worry about trying to do it on-line.

::yes::
I agree with Bill and with the others who said you want to make your reservation ASAP.
When you need a room with a roll in shower, the regular reservations people will call the Special Reservations number to make sure that what you need is available. There are only a small number of those rooms per resort and once they are gone, you won't be able to make a reservation for one unless someone else cancels.

For rooms right next to each other with a door in between, you want to ask for CONNECTING rooms. Adjoining rooms are rooms that are next to each other, but don't necessarily have the door inside the room that connects them together. They should be able to set that up for you at the same time that they reserve the room with a roll in shower (although the connecting room part may not be guaranteed).

I would recommend not using a travel agent for a reservation with any special needs requests. The travel agent may do just fine, but I have heard some bad experiences where the travel agent understood one thing and the guest meant something else entirely. Until a few days before the actual stay, the travel agent 'owns' the reservation and any changes have to come thru the TA. Also, any questions you have for the resort are routed thru the travel agent.

Thanks so much for all the responses. I phoned and booked our 2 connecting rooms last night. Had such amazing service. Not something I'm use to. They were able to answer all my questions and the ones they didn't know the found the answers quickly.

Had to make 2 seperate reservations but it works all the same.

Only problem we noticed is when they sent out the reservation to my e-mail my parents reservation said has trouble walking not wheel chair and said requested connecting room while my room reservation said guarenteed connecting so will have to phone them back and make sure they got what I needed set up for sure.

But I'm really excited now and I can start planning the rest of the trip.

Thanks again for all the help I'm sure I'll have more questions as I plan.
