Too late to book for December 2021?

We've found that the second week of December is much less crowded than the first week. I don't know if it's because more people piggy-back off of Thanksgiving weekend, or they've been told the first week has low crowds. We used to do the first week of December up until about 4 years ago. That's when we noticed the crowds really increasing. We started going later like Dec. 10th or so, and found it much more to our liking.
Also as a personal side note, December week days are awesome, but the weekends are VERY crowded!

Will have to remember this for next year, as I usually go in the first 10 days of the month of December.

How do you find that is? This is the time i like to go. Last time i did first 10 days in December was 4 years
ago. Wasn't too bad EXCEPT for Magic Kingdom. Was planning to do the same this year but now starting
to wonder. Honestly the wild card is Covid. Hard to predict anything with all the revenge travel going on.

I just booked for 12/7-12/12 and Beach Club was the cheapest option for my family of 5, luckily that's the hotel I wanted. I don't think it's too late- like others said, they might open up more inventory later.

I've done 5 or 6 trips during the first 10 days or so of December (sometimes start on the 1st, sometimes a couple of days later depending upon airfare.), and usually the weather is perfect, and crowds aren't bad at all. I will say that we've run into a couple of cold spells, but they usually last a few days then the temps are back up to mid to high 70s. I make sure I look at the forecast before I go, and sometimes throw a light pair of gloves and a heavier jacket in the suitcase depending.

I'm going this year, I'm betting on Covid still being under control and things being back to mostly normal. It'll be 2 years since I've been by then, I'm in some serious withdrawal. I'm fully vaccinated now, so I'm not that worried anymore. And if things unexpectedly change with the pandemic, I have no qualms about rescheduling. I won't be out any money, I booked room only, and my airfare can be changed without penalty since it's Southwest.

I was playing around with some potential dates for a trip, looking at 12/4 - 12/10 of 2021, but there is practically no availability at Disney resorts for these dates (Coronado for $858, GF for $1,600, Yacht Club for even more, and Boardwalk.) I was under the impression that early December is a lower crowd time, but I know that there are rebound trips due to Covid cancellations and also higher booking for the 50th anniversary year. But are the hotels really fully booked and I'm way late to the game, or has Disney not yet released inventory at all of their resorts for those dates yet?
AKL Jambo just opened for fall booking, so if you still need a room, they have plenty of availability for December.

I just book CSR over xmas. I had been looking over the last week and things were drying up.

I have never been there over xmas and haven't been for a while. I dont know what I'm doing any more with this covid stuff and all the new Disney rules.

Oh well. This is a graduation gift and family vacation.

Gee now i have to worry about our days at Universal. Do you know if they will be there dec1st-7th?
We were in WDW Early Dec 2019 that overlapped some with Pop Warner. It wasn’t bad for the most part since they spent most of their time at ESPN competing. But the resorts they book feel it, especially breakfast time or at the pool, etc. It wasn’t often we noticed their presence in the parks. Not sure what the plans are at Uni, hoping they don’t have much impact on your trip. *fingers crossed* which is possible.

Our trip is the 8th-15th. We always want our last full day to be spent in the MK, so I chose Monday the 13th for our Universal day hoping to miss the Pop Warner crowds. Fingers crossed.

Ah, I missed all the comments about Pop Warner and just came here to comment about it after discovering it on my own. LOL.

I wonder if that could be the reason the Disney hotels are so limited that week still. Seems weird to book at Disney when your event is at Universal, but I guess you never know.
