Too Good To Be True?

I've been trying to get a ressie for room only at the Contemporary for 4 nights over the 4th of July weekend and nothing has been available except for Tower rooms. I even called at 8:00 a.m. today and got the same answer. I saw Disney resorts with the special summer rates on Expedia and tried to book the CR through them, with no luck.

Then, guess what? Went to the WDW website I saw posted on these boards where you can book the summer rates online, put in my info and to my surprise, it went through!!! I'm so excited, I'm afraid it's too good to be true! I do have a confirmation number and printed everything out from the website.

I really didn't think anything would free up, especially with the SOG overflow and the holiday weekend. I'm shocked. I'm also afraid I'm going to show up at the desk to check in and they won't have a room for us! We'll probably end up in the janitor's closet! What do you think everyone? Will I have a problem at checkin?

Why not call the CR just to confirm the reservation is good?

As long as you have your confirmation number in your hand, you should be fine! Call CRO and give them your confirmation number to pull up if that will make you feel better.

Congratulations!!!!

We just stayed there in January and loved it... I know that you will too!

Definitely call CRO and confirm! I just posted a thread about my concerns that the hotel I'm staying at in May had no available rooms through the WDW site the days I was staying, causing me to fear huge crowds. I just checked again today, and there are now rooms available for those dates. Either Disney holds blocks of rooms for various reasons and releases them at certain times, or the web site is totally inaccurate (or a little of both);)

You should be OK with a confirmation number, but there's no doubt in my mind you should call.

I did call CRO to confirm and they could not call up my reservation using the confirmation code from the website. The transferred me to another department and they looked me up by my name. Yes, they had all the information on my reservation for the CR, they also saw the info on the reservation I have at the Polynesian! So now I have two reservations going for the same dates. I'm just still a little uneasy about this and I'm going to wait a little longer before I cancel the reservation at the Polynesian.

barbnbrian....you have given me hope! ;)
I have been trying to make a couple adjustment to our ressies in June and nothing!
But I may try the web site too.
I also have 2 ressies for the same dates and waiting til it gets closer to the date to cancel one of them. I did not want to lose the discount and we haven't decided yet which one.
I am a little nervous they may cancel one with out letting me know. But I have already paid more than half on each. So at least they should call before they cancel one!! Right????

Did ya ever think these rooms that seem to 'magically' appear, might free up when all those double-booking finally cancel their 2nd set of ressies?

Very good point, behappy. People always seem to think that double ressies are such a great convenience to them until they make up their mind, that they never consider how INCONVENIENT it is to others trying to make their plans as well!

cascadecupcake.....and behappy.........
I know that this is one reason....the double reservation issue!
But when you are talking about a significant amount of money and the discounts are limited and expire......what would you do????
I KNOW it isn't the proper thing to do and is INCONVENIENT for some others.......But like I said .....

So I look at it this way.....maybe someone else that is in the same boat as me will "get Lucky" when I cancel and it makes the room available to them at the last minute.
Besides....the CRO never said a word about holding 2 ressies at the same time....she knew what I was doing. I just figured since one was a moderate and the other a deluxe it wouldn't be such an issue.
I would never have 2 ressies at the same rates, just cause I couldn't decide what theme I prefer......this is a financial issue.
Sorry if my double-booking has inconvenienced anyone.:(

Well I cancelled my original ressie has soon as I was positive they had my new one at the CR in their system. I was not intentionally planning on holding on to both reservations for any length of time. I had one ressie, was able to make another for the resort I truly wanted, and then cancelled the original ressie. I needed to have a reservation at some place just in case I couldn't book the resort I really wanted in the first place. Once something freed up at the CR, I booked it and cancelled the other ressie. It was not my intention to hold up a room that someone else may be dying to book.

No one needs to explain double ressies to anyone, it is usually CRO that suggests them when you can't make up your mind. They cancel automatically in 2 weeks without a deposit anyway. Flame suit on- ready!!

Where do you get these summer special rates? What is the address to log on to?

The closer to the date that you cancel a reservation, the
more the chance that it will NOT go into the discount
inventory. It will go into the general inventory and be at
rack rate.

barbnbrian,
Glad things worked out for you. I have been having the same problem trying to get into the Contemporary on the same dates, believe it or not (and really pestering CRO with repeated calls, I suspect :o ). We are booked at AKL for now, and I cannot find anything at CR except concierge (way too expensive!).

I've checked prices on practically every room in WDW. Some resorts CRO says are booked show as available on the web site (or expedia, etc), with the inverse also true. This is just frustrating.

Barbnbrian...I am so glad you got the ressies you wanted!! That is wonderful news! :)

I booked a room online at the CR for two nights July 4 and 5. If my credit card is billed I will know I have a room. If it is not, I will start to worry and make some phone calls. The concern I have with the online reservation is the 45 days ahead if I want to cancel. Why does Disney have two different policies. I know the other (I think CRO) policy is 5 days prior to arrival because I am also staying at the WL and AKL in late June. The reservation for the CR has a 45 day cancellation policy. I think this ressie is through Disney Travel Co. But aren't they both "Disney" owned businesses?
