Listening to this weeks podcast brought back probably the worst theme park memory i have ever had. I am a big guy, 6-1 and about 300 pounds. Growing up going to Disney Parks made me feel normal, i fit into EVERY single ride at WDW and DL that i have ever tried to ride, and i try them all. I had not been to Universal Studious Hollywood since i was a little kid, so about 2 years ago me and my Fiance and my brother decided to go. Me being the Disney nut and So into theme parks , i was basically the coordinator, everyone else wanted to go, but i was REALLY excited to go. Everything went good in the morning, we did a few attractions and didnt have any problems. Then we went to the Mummy. They had a little car outside that you could sit on and test fit, everything went fine on that. We waited for about 25 minutes and finally got to the ride vehicle, we were put into the line for the front seats, we didnt ask for that, they just put us there, i sit down and realized it was a TIGHT fit. Then i had to try and push down the lap bar mechanism. YEAH RIGHT. it was supposed to fit over my legs and had to be pushed down until it clicked into the right position. , it wasnt even close. Problem is that it is now locked down part way and im stuck. So i tell the guy im not going to fit, im embarrassed, my brother and my fiance could tell i was not happy, the whole room full of people could see that i couldnt fit, i was ready to run out of there because i was so embarrassed. But then the guy pulls me out, and says, let me put you in the back row, there is a lot more room back there, you should be fine. So i decide i will try that. I get out , walk to the back row and get in, its a little bigger but not much, i try and put down the bar, and it does go down lower, but again not enough. So now im again locked in partially, and they have to release all the bars just so i can go out, they could have loaded 2 trains in the amount of time it took for all of this to happen. I was so embarrassed , i told my party to go without me, and i would just wait outside. Even though it was only like 11am i was ready to go home, i felt so stupid and embarrassed. I dont EVER want to have that feeling again, it was so horrible. I wont be trying Harry potter any time soon, i will be staying at WDW where they build ride vehicles big enough for us Pooh Sized people. They REALLY should have planned better and designed a ride vehicle that can accommodate more shapes of people.

Sorry you had such a bad experience. I'm a bigger guy too and have had a similar thing happen at the local fair. I dont blame them though. It's my fault if I let my size get out of control. Being obese is going to present difficulties. I try to use these situations as motivation to make better life decisions to be more healthy.

I'm sorry that happened to you. Being on display while finding out you are too big to fit the vehicle is not a fair situation. Especially when you fit in the test vehicle. They should make their test vehicle more accurate.
