Try to rent 1050 square ft. in a prestigious area of Orlando for this time period and this price will seem pretty good. And I get to deduct the taxes.
Of course, I had to buy the points, but rents will probably go up faster than my dues.
Don't get me wrong, I also love my
DVC membership and feel it's worth every penny for what I paid, but realistically at this time, you can rent a whole house in a very nice and very close location to WDW with your own private pool, more square footage, more bathrooms, etc for less than $2000.00 for the same time period....if you are willing to stay off WDW property.
I personally do not wish to stay off property while in the WDW area and I am even very picky about my location while on WDW property. So for me, the cost of DVC is well worth it. But to say you can not get comparable or even larger accomendations in the WDW area for the same price or less, is just not so.
Where the rental prices will be in the future, no one knows but we must also keep in mind as the years go by so does our value in DVC membership due to the decreasing amount of usage time left in the contract.
Spending almost a month every year at a DVC property is luxury to the best but I do not think it can be classified as retiring there. A very nice yearly vacation,yes...... but retirement, no.
I love my DVC membership and feel it is worth way more than what I paid for it because it gives me everything I desire when staying at WDW but to say it is a bargain compared to what I could have gotten if I had been willing to buy or stay offsite--no way is this true!
No matter how you cut the pie, DVC membership is expensive compared to comparable choices in the immediate area. Whether the additional expense is worth the added benefits/location a DVC membership provides, is a personal choice.
