Too Early to Book Flights for Nov 2014?

What are everyone's thoughts? I've been watching USAirways and the costs seems to be fluctuating a LOT, not only by the day but by the hour. Is that normal? I rarely book flights myself.

Wondering if it's worth booking to lock in a price or if I should wait until Southwest releases flights? The USAirways flights do NOT look full.

We would fly from Philadelphia to Orlando (not Jersey week or Thanksgiving week), but I don't even know what's a reasonable rate. I don't think I've flown to Orlando in over 10 years.

Thanks.

I have been watching the flights from Philly to Orlando for October. The prices are high for US Air, but Southwest has not released their prices yet. So I am waiting until then.

I did comparisons for other months where Southwest has released prices and US Air prices are comparable to Southwest for those months. The general price I am seeing is about 138 one-way for both US Air and Southwest when both airlines have open dates.

So that is my target price for buying tickets for either airlines.

Thanks. Yes, I just saw $355 round trip on USAir so maybe I should wait for Southwest (not to mention no baggage fees). We can watch together!

Any idea when Southwest will open up these dates for booking? Right now they are booking through August 8. I am hoping for tickets (PWM-MCO) for Columbus Day weekend so want to jump on this as soon as the booking window opens- especially as we'll be using points. I expect cheap seats will go quickly.

Don't forget jetblue. We just booked $224 round trio before fees and taxes out of newark. They include one checked bag in their prices

I so wish Jet Blue was direct from Philadelphia. Unfortunately Newark is too far for us.

We are currently accepting air reservations through August 8, 2014. On March 3, 2014, we will open our schedule for sale through October 31, 2014. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently.

MamaBear - I would wait for SW to open.

Thank you, DebbieB!! Do you know what time they start booking? I know with some airlines, the new "day" starts at 6am. I will either stay up late or get up early to do this; I really want those cheap flights (and I'll keep an eye on Southwest for sales as the days go by!).

I'll be watching for these to open too. We hope to do the first week of October from Philly-Orlando. :)

You really have to keep looking at prices. We flew Southwest on Feb 4 and I purchased what I thought was a good rate ( in Oct.) but kept checking and one morning at about 6 the price dropped to $109 from Albany NY to Orlando. I grabbed two tickets and two hours later the price had jumped back up. I never saw it this low again. Great excuse for another flight to Disney this fall.
