Will the animals still be very active in this colder weather? We were planning on going to AK tomorrow, but don't want to go if a lot of the animals will be keeping cozy somewhere out of site. Thanks for any and all input!!

No - the animals like it cold. It was 40 degrees on one of the mornings we did the Safari. The animals were out everywhere.

It would be too cold for me but I think that most of the animals won't mind the cold. If you can handle it bundle up and have fun!

we have found more anlimals out when it is cooler
if you think it might be too cold at the start of the day wait a bit to go on the safari

I have pics of us in winter jackets with hoods and mittens on, red noses etc. I have never seen so many animals on the safari. They were everywhere basking in the sun in the cool weather.

The kimono dragon will not be out if it is too cold. that's the only animal I know of that they keep backstage in the cooler weather.

I don't think the animals LIKE the cold so much as they are desperately seeking sunlight to try to warm themselves and therefore might be more visible than other times when they are seeking shade to keep cool during the hot summer. In many ways the animals are smarter than we are in that regard. :)

The whole week looks to be cold. SO if you want to go to a park, go for it. The only thing I would NOT do would be a water park, but that is just me.

We were there 12/8-12/17...I can't remember which two days we went to AK, but they ended up being the 2 coldest during our stay. The animals were AMAZING on the safari! Best we have ever seen! In fact there were 3 cheetahs that were so close to us I got a little nervous! Amazing! It definately seemed that the animals LOVED the cool weather!
The only down side to going to AK on a cold day...we had to skip Kali River both days, and the top of Expedition Everest truly felt like it was going to snow up there.

Thanks to everyone for your responses! We've decided to go..we are from Ohio, so the cold won't be a problem for us. Thanks again!!
