Tony's. Yay or Nay

Up until recently I would have said Yay.....however, on our last trip the food was bad  I used to be one of the people on the DIS who praised Tony's and didn't understand why it always got such a bad rap....until we ate there recently and the food was just bad. The absolute WORST lasagna I have ever tasted in my life. No way to describe it other than just bad, sour sauce, funky tasting meat, etc. I'm re-thinking Tony's for our family trip in Feb. I'm thinking we'll try Liberty Tree Tavern in stead. It's a shame because Tony's was always a must-do for us.

I've heard about views from Tonys. Are most of the tables near windows overlooking outside? Also, since several of their desserts interest me, I'm wondering about getting just an appetizer and dessert? Are their appetizers large enough to serve as an entree (especially wondering how large their salads are?)

I really liked Tony's when we went there last year. The Gnocchi dish was really good. Service was a little slow but mostly OK.

Tony's is okay. DH and I tried it on our last trip and enjoyed the experience. The food was average, nothing special but we liked eating right at the entrance of MK.

It's not a must do, but it's certainly adequate for a meal. It's relatively inexpensive (disney-wise) if you're paying out of pocket. In the three times we've been there, we've always had very good service. The last time we went, we had a very friendly waitress who gave me a pin and our baby boy a first timers certificate.

The food is nothing to write home about but it's certainly edible.

Nay. I would choose any of the other sit-down restaurants over Tony's. :rolleyes1

Yay -- even though I did NOT like the chicken parm that others on here seem to love. The garlic cheese bread app was tasty, and DH got the New York Strip which was really juicy and flavorful, with fresh green beans on the side.

Yay! We just ate there for the first time last week and all 8 of us enjoyed our meals! Between us we had gnocchi, lasagna, chicken parmesan, new york strip steak, spaghetti and meatballs, seafood diavolo and calamari appetizer. Everything was excellent. I was hesitant about this meal because of the reviews - so this was a pleasant surprise. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated with an ADR. Service was excellent.

We truly enjoyed our dining experience at Tony's. The food was great and the atmosphere was even better - loved the "Lady and the Tramp" decor. I would def. recommened it to anyone who hasn't tried it.

We have always had good food. The service has been from great to ok. We have had some of best eever and some average but none were ever the worse at WDW. We will be there again this fall and were there earlier in the year. everything we have had has been good. The latest was the NY, wonderful, always the parm, all diff apps...We have never waited there lng and we were there on Spring Break this past March..maybe 10 min at most.

DH reallly enjoys it, and I'm OK with it. It's not the food, it's the choices that I'm not crazy about. We're eating there in December!:thumbsup2

If you're paying out of pocket, then I agree with Pig Pen about the Plaza...We decided to try it on this year's trip even though it wasn't the best use of the TS of the dining plan, BUT found it to be one of the restaruants that we would put on our "MUST DO" list... it's a small place, there doesn't seem to be a hurry up feeling, it's quiet...The sandwiches were huge and were very good...They serve one "hot meal" each day and the meal offered that day was meatloaf with potato and veggie...

About Tony's.... If you've not been, I wouldn't worry about the reviews...Each opinion is our own.... I was worried about bringing our "first- timers" to Tony's but they wanted to go because they liked the online menu and we all liked the meal with me being surprised being I found as many negative reviews as positive...! If you want to try Italian, go for it!

Yet another NAY. Tony's was one of the worst meals I've ever had in WDW. I've been twice and won't return. Food is terrible and strange tasting. Atmosphere and service have always been fine, however.

As others have said, you are better off elsewhere. Just realize that LTT for dinner is family style food for a set price. Plaza is OK. MK is really lacking in good TS options. If I were you, I'd hop on a boat or Monorail to the Poly and go to Kona Cafe.

We always make a point to go to Tony's when we're in Disney - generally it's our ADR for our trip since we usually get in to Orlando mid-afternoon. We've had excellent service there every time. Twice we've celebrated my dad's birthday there - the first time we didn't pre-order a cake, but they took care of it at the podium, sang to him, brought out extra ice cream for the whole table (beyond what we were entitled to on the dining plan at no charge). The next trip, we ordered a cake to be delivered from one of the bakeries. Our server that night was awesome :) On our most recent trip, we had an ADR and waited an incredibly long time anyway (it was a MVMCP night, but not the night we were staying). By the time we were seated, our son fell asleep in the booth immediately after ordering and ate nothing :( Our waiter apologized up and down and told his manager -- who came over and gave us a few special express fast passes to be used at any point during our stay. They also boxed up our son's meal and I don't believe they used his dining plan credits for it, either.

The food is good, some things better than others, but I've never had anything that was "bad." And trust me.... we're food snobs! It's not as good as other places, particularly some of the EPCOT restaurants, but for us, it's a "must do." It just sort of "sets the tone" of our vacation.

Tony's? Yay or nay? I have one night with no ADR and we will be planning to stay in MK for Wishes so I was thinking about doing dinner in the park.

If not Tony's where do you like for sit down dinner in MK? We're paying on our own for this.

TIA

We've dined there several times and enjoyed the experience: Yay!
