How is this place? I haven't heard much about it and am looking to make a dinner ADR for a mixed group - myself and my husband, my in-laws, my 17 year old stepdaughter and our 3 little kids. I figured it might be a good place because everyone likes Italian. If I take the ADR at 6:50pm do you think we'll be done by 8pm to see Wishes?

Hi,

If you use the search function you will find dozens of threads on Tony's. Here is one from last week:

Tony's elicits very strong opinions both ways here on the DIS. My advice is, if the menu appeals to you, give it a try. Everyone's taste is different. Sometimes you go to a movie and disagree with the film critics, right?

Thanks!
What do you think about the ADR time and still being able to see the fireworks at 8pm?

TTS was one of our FAVORITE meals! I had the shrimp scampi and it was delicious!!

Sorry TinyDancer! My timing isn't great...just coming to post that I had the shrimp scampi in June and it was the worst meal of our trip! lol! It was super greasy, swimming in oil and had absolutely no flavor.
This is a classic example of why you should try every place for yourself. Pick any place in the World and you will find 100 people who love it and 100 people who don't. ;)

Tony's is the place we had our longest wait to get in, even with our ADR and this was for lunch. Every time we have eatten at Tony's we have had atleast a 10-20 minute wait (past our ADR time) to get seated (lunch or dinner). Keep that in mind when you are considering your time situation. We had 120pm ADR back in December (free dining was going on so that could have been part of the wait problem) and finished around 250pm (just in time for the parade). Our girls did sleep during most of the lunch, so that could have been some of the time crunch, but I assumed we would have finished around 230pm so we could have gotten better places for the parade.

You can always tell your server that you want to be done in time to see Wishes. That way he can "rush" your orders a bit by having you order everything at once, especially if you are getting appetizers and dessert. Another option is to order dessert to go, and make sure you do that early enough so that it's ready by the time you get your check.

I think you should be able to eat there in about an hour if you let your server know ahead of time. I don't know if they allow people to get up and view Wishes outside of the restaurant and return to the table after.

I hope this helps some. Enjoy your meal there. We LOVE the tiramisu!

We liked Tony's when we ate there in December, but I wouldn't say it was the best meal we had. DH had the steak which was very good and DS had the chicken parm which I also liked. I had the spaghetti with italian sausage and I didn't like it too much. The desserts were really good and we had probably the best service of any meal we ate the whole trip at Tony's.

DH and I like it, the best calamari I ever had comes from Tonys.....it is not as great as Il Mulino or Tutto Italia but it is good, like Olive Garden good

We were there in December and we had 4 entrees and 2 different childrens' dishes. We were all overall mostly pleased with the food we had except for the pasta was slightly overcooked for us in 2 dishes. Next time I will ask for al dente pasta which is what I prefer.

We had chicken parm, shrimp scampi, grilled pork tenderloin and seafood diavolo.

There are some pictures in my blog (link in my signature) if you care to take a look. When you get to the main page it is under restaurant reviews on the right hand side of the page.

Hope this helps some. :)

And how can one pass up doing the Lady and the Tramp meatball roll with their loved one??

hehe. :)

Honestly, it ws one of our favorite meals of the trip. We may have hit it on a great night, but everything was perfect!

We have given it a few chances over the last few years and finally decided it wasn't worth it to bother anymore. The food just isn't good. We will enjoy a hot dog and fries at counter service for a meal before we would eat at Tonys ever again.

Eating our first and last meal at Tony's started when my daughters were young and we still continue that tradition now even though they are all grown up :yay: We love Tony's :cloud9:

6:50pm sounds late to make it to Wishes. Even taking into the account the option of "rushing" your order why would you want to rush a dinner that easily going to cost $200 for that size party. I would plan either a table service lunch or just plan on a counter service dinner if seeing Wishes is a priority.

Another thing to consider is Tony's is inside the MK and there is no alcohol served inside the MK. I just can't imagine Italian food without a nice glass of wine to accompany my dinner.

EWWWW! Olive Garden is just nasty and if you say the calamari is Olive Garden good I would assume it is somewhere between tire rubber and garbage. :scared1:

We were hesitant about Tony's, 4th family trip was last Sept and finally tried it-we will definately go back, I had the steak (Lecellier it is not but it was just fine) DH had the chicken parm and kids were stuck on the sad kids menu that is everywhere.

Well, we're going to give it a try. I'm not expecting greatness, just a place that will keep a mixed group happy and where we can get waited on after a day in the park. A 5:25 ADR opened up since I last checked, so I took that instead of the 6:50 which should give us plenty of time to see Wishes at 8pm. Thanks everyone!

Gross gross and GROSS. I couldn't even finish my meal here. Reminded me of the days airplanes actually served meals. NOT authentic Italian by any stretch- comparing it to Ragu would be a compliment it's not worthy of.

On a more relevant note, 6:50 should be plenty of time for Wishes. Be sure to arrive AT LEAST 15 minutes prior to your reservation. This will get you seated quicker. And as the others noted, let your server know you are trying to make Wishes.

The food appears to be prepared WELL in advance, sitting for a while and simply covered and waiting. So timing shouldn't be an issue. They bring out the food as quickly as their re-heating instruments will allow.

Tutto Italia is much better Italian IMHO.

I have enjoyed Tony's, but it's not "real" Italian. It's more simplified Italian. If you aren't picky and eat Pasta with Jarred sauce then you'll be happy at Tony's. That's my analogy.

I'm very picky about my Italian, and I enjoy it a lot.
