I haven't dined at Tony's Town Square in over 5 years and I'm wondering if the restaurant is still good (you know how much they change from year to year). Has anybody been there recently who can tell me about their dining experiance? Thanks in advance!!

I was there last Aug. My son & his Gf In Dec & My parents just went. We always have a good dinner here. But everybody has different opinions. Keep that in mind.

capncrunch_11-Welcome to the boards!!!!!

I haven't eaten there and just made my ADR this morning online. Thought we would give it a try. I have read some good comments in the past.

We have enjoyed Tony's for lunch and dinner. I wouldn't say it is the place for an extra special celebration meal, but it is a great place to duck into and replenish yourself with decent Italian-style food while you are at MK. They've got a nice lunch and dinner menu, and the restaurant decor is Lady and the Tramp theme. You can time it so you can watch the parade and fireworks right out front after dinner.

This really is one of those places where you will get people who either love it or hate it.

We tried it for the first (and last!) time Friday. It's not for us. We enjoyed our appetizers but the entrees were just gross.

But then again we love Tutto Italia. So much so, we dined there twice last week. Tony's is NOTHING like Tutto. :sad2: I have never been to the Olive Garden which many people compare Tony's to. If it's like this, OMG I'm glad I've never gone there! rotfl:

Funny, while we were waiting for our table at Tutto a family came by to read the menu. The father said this place has "real" italian food, it's not for us. So with that, it's safe to say Tony's is american Italian food. If you want real Italian food, go to Tutto Italia.

We tried Tony's for the first time a few weeks ago and were pleasantly surprised. Is it gourmet Italian - no. But the salad was fresh and tasty, and the pasta was really good (I had the rigatoni). I like the set-up in the restaurant - it's spread out enough that you don't feel like you're sitting on top of the people next to you!

We ate dinner there in March and loved it! We ate there again earlier this month and again it was very good except for the one dish DH ordered that had wayyyy too many capers in it and they overpowered the dish

Best calamari at WDW

I agree with what's been said so far- either you love it or hate it.

It is, in my opinion, "American Italian". (It's operated by Buitoni so if you like their items at the grocery store, you will probably like the food at Tony's!)

My DH and I both had an Italian immigrant grandmother, so we prefer Tutto. :confused3

It's decent. Not amazing. Tutto is by far the better of the two in terms of 'real' Italian. Tony's is more like Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill. We don't eat at those restaurants at home (we have wayyyy too many real Italian places around us) but we do eat at Tony's when at the MK. We're actually eating there twice next trip...one lunch, one dinner. We're just lesser fans of the other TS at the MK, sadly. Tony's has it's good food and gross food like all the TS. It's all a matter of preference though!

I am considering Tony's for September. I'd like to hear more opinions.

I was just there last month and HATED IT! I love love love Italian food and that was like Fast Food Italian and it tasted frozen and microwaved! Blech! :scared1:

We had lunch there on Christmas Day (08) and it was pretty good. I had the Chix Parm...it was fine, but could have used a little more spice for my taste. DD had a Clazone and DS has pizza...both ate it up. DH has a pasta dish he was satisfied with. The best theing about TTS was our CM...she was really on the ball and sweet as could be.

So, what about Tony's vesus Mama Melrose's? Which is better? My Italian DH would like an Italian meal on vacation and we are trying to change it up a bit from our visit to Tutto Italia last time.

I disagree the statement: "you love it or you hate it" . Some of us think its just OK. Not great, not horrible. We had lunch there on our last trip and it was a pretty tasty, filling meal. Not the best Italian on the planet but definately not the worst either. Food is so objective, so many factors come into play: where one is from, what food options they have there, how often they eat out, individual palates; all kinds of things. If you want fine dining, hit EPCOT or a resort. If you want theme park food, Tony's may just fit the bill.

We had lunch there in May. It was our first visit to Tony's. Personally, I liked it. I agree with the other poster that said it was a nice atomosphere, we didn't feel crowded at all.

If you like spaghetti to have the consistency of those worm-like fibreglass bins that hold vegetables in the grocery store, then yes, you'll love Tony's.
If you think that you'd like to go to the Olive Garden on a bad day and then get mugged on the way back to your car, you might like their prices too.

We just ate there a couple of weeks ago and LOVED it again! We have never had a bad dinner there, now, I did it as a grand gathering breakfast and didn't enjoy the food at all, but I have always loved the dinner there!

I'm very glad we gave it a try even though I had read so many bad reviews on these boards.

If your DH is Italian...I would stick to Tutto. :confused3

Both Tony's and Mama's are acceptable food. I wouldn't call them Italian. I had the chicken parm at Mama's and HATED it. The pasta was overcooked, chicken a hockey puck, and sauce just bleh. My mom had the pasta with shrimp and 4 cheese sauce at Mama's and that was the winner by far. I really enjoyed it but it wasn't 'italian'.

Hmm...if I had to pick which one was better? It's a tough call! The appetizers we liked a lot at Mama's.... the entrees at both places were a mixed bag...a were the dessert :(

Our family falls squarely in the "just like it" category. Nice atmosphere (we ate there during Spectromagic and could see the lights go by, even though we were not real close to a window) and the food is fine. Nothing spectacular, in fact, I can't recall what I got there, and normally I can remember all my Disney meals.:-)
