Tony's? Is it really bad? really?

We thought Tony's was mediocre at best. I had the spaghetti and meatballs which were very bland. My BF had the steak which he said was good but it was a very small portion for $30+. He also had the caesar salad which was plain and I had the garlic cheese bread which were good. I had the ice cream bomb for dessert and he had whatever the dessert of the day was and they were both ok. Service was fast, almost to the point of rushing - we were seated immediately and our food came out quick. I think we were out of there within 40 mins and we had apps, entrees and desserts. And this was a Saturday night during prime dinner hour. We aren't running back here, but I wouldn't rule it out if nothing else was available.

I had dinner at Tony's the week after Christmas. It was nice! I had the spaghetti with sausage and it was pretty good. Our waitress was very nice and the service was excellent. I would definitely go back again. :thumbsup2

We've eaten at Tony's three times and all three times were very good. I should say that none of us got food with tomato sauce, which might make a difference. My DH usually orders steak and I usually order fish, and I remember a salmon dish from Tony's that was excellent. My DH and DD liked their steak from Tony's almost as much as our meal at LeCellier on the same trip!

Now, we've eaten at Mama Melrose twice and both times were pretty bad. I read a lot of good reviews from there so really, you just have to try everyplace out for yourself.

You will have to make your own choice as to whether or not to try it, but I will never go back to Tony's again. We decided to give it a 2nd chance on our trip this past July and it was awful awful awful. Never again for this family. (I will also never go back to Mama Melrose's either). I liked Tutto Italia though . :)

We ate there for breakfast for a Grand Gathering in November 2011. The breakfast was GREAT! Eggs were delicious! (They said they added marscapone cheese. YUMMY) Pastries were really good. Everyone's favorite was the blueberry muffin! So, breakfast is really good. Not sure about lunch and dinner

We had dinner there a couple of years ago. I didn't think it was so bad, but not good enough that we have been back. We had very good service. As for the food...

Spaghetti with Italian Sausage- didn't like much
Chicken Parmasen- liked this
Chocolate Bomb Dessert- very good
Mint Chocolate Chip Cheesecake- I think this was a seasonal dessert as we were there a few weeks before Christmas but it was so yummy.

We may try it for lunch our next trip as the flatbreads look appealing to me.

Hope you have a good meal there!

We had a nice meal there in Feb. 2010 - it wasn't the best food on property, but certainly acceptable. The red sauce is very plain - so if you like a spicy sauce, you won't enjoy it. DS had the strip steak and he absolutely loved it. We thought the desserts were great - we had the ice cream bomb and the pistachio creme brulee.

I would say don't expect it to be the greatest, but it's really not horrible and it's a nice place to sit down and relax.

Have a great trip!

We just had lunch at Tony's on Thursday afternoon and it was fantastic. We had a 12:30 ADR and were seated promptly right next to the fountain inside. Our server Claire was PHENOMINAL! I cannot say enough nice things about her--now for the food..

We started with the Calamari and the Garlic Toast..both were wonderful and flavorful. No tentacles with the calamari just the rings, all tender and yummy. The garlic toast is topped with bruschetta and it was also very good.

DD12 had the Chicken Parm and loved it, huge serving for lunch portion, DH had the Ziti also a huge serving, I had the Scampi with sun dried tomatoes and asparagus and it was delicious. For dessert we had the ice cream bomb, hazelnut chocolate cake and the pistachio creme brulee. All were SOOO good.

This was a fantastic lunch and we were full for the rest of the day.

We've eaten there twice, with the most recent time being December 2011. We liked it both times. Last December, we were with another family. There were 4 adults and 3 kids. Everyone enjoyed it, and no one left much on their plates. We all ate Italian too. I would defiitely eat there again. It is kind of Olive Garden type quality. If you hate Olive Garden you probably won't like it. If you are okay with Olive Garden, you should be fine.

I've been paying pretty close attention to the reviews for the past few years and we have decided to brave it for lunch this trip since we are doing the DxDP. I think the best items on the menu (from what I've read) are the calamari, the shrimp scampi, and the creme brulee. Most find the red sauce mediocre to gross, so we will have 1 member of our party try something with it...but have enough to share of our other dishes in case we hate it.

Good luck! If you do try it, please post your review.

ty and skyes mom: Thanks for the awesome pictures. Those zucchini fries look awesome and I think my son would like those mickey heads - something a little different. I may actually look into this place while I am figuring out our ADR's. The desserts look great too.,Also love the island time shirt, I'm gonna need to be on the look out for one for me.

Definitely not disney's finest.

My zucchini fries were fine. The biano flat bread was okay- not overly tasty and not really covered in sauce, cheese or toppings.

My 8 year chose not to eat he was not overly enthralled, my 6 year was offended that her salad came with shredded lettuce that she hated. Her pizza was mediocre and tiny- smaller and no better than any cs.

So we will not return. I would consider other options if any one in your party is a foodie.

We've eaten at Tony's the last few trips and haven't been dissapointed. Being from the NYC area, we weren't expecting a whole lot, as we have amazing italian food here. We had steak, shrimp scampi, lasagna, chicken parm and few diff kids meals. None horrible, none great. Steaks were good, though. I'd eat here again.

We enjoyed our meal there and plan to go back eventually. But I do agree with others that did not like their marinara sauce.

We got the cheese garlic bread for app, which we liked. It comes topped with fresh tomatoes and basil.

I got the chicken parm for my entree and did not care for it because it came drenched with their marinara.

DH got the NY Strip, and surprisingly, we both liked it more than the Yachtsman strip! It came with a side of green beans which were also deliciously prepared.

We ate there our first time in December. The place was packed with folks waiting everywhere...so somebody must like it!

The appetizers were really good, the entrees we had got an ok & the dessert was pretty good. Was not our favorite..but not icky either. We would eat there again...but it isn't really tops on the list of to do's.

This was by far our worst meal of the entire trip, actually one of the worst meals I've ever had. My DH wouldn't even finish it and he is NOT a picky eater. DD wouldn't eat. It was terrible. I have since told everyone I Know going to avoid it at all costs.

YUCK!!

I thought it was pretty good. We got the tomato mozzarella appetizer and really liked it. For my entree, I got pork tenderloin and it was really good :)

Horrible, horrible meal. Worst of our NYE trip for both DH and I. The zucchini fries were bland and a little too fried. My mushroom tortelloni (chosen at server's suggestion) was absolutely swimming in grease (it was supposed to be a broth-type sauce). I literally had bits of tomato sauce suspended in the oil on my plate. Disgusting; I couldn't finish it. DH ordered the mahi mahi special and said his fish was barely edible. The only good thing for us was the garlic rolls as they were warm and soft. To add to the evening, from the time we sat down 'til the time we got our check was 35 mins. Normally, I don't mind a quick meal at WDW b/c it means more rides, but this was a little ridiculous. We will probably never return.

As you can tell from the responses, taste is subjective. Some people love broccoli but I hate it. The same goes for restaurants. Give it a try and see for yourself.

We eat at Tony's once every trip because it is kind of a tradition to our family. We've always had excellent service, we've always had decent food (in our opinion) and based on that, I have no reason to not eat there. We're not a family that enjoys "buffets" and Tony's fits the bill for us between the other TS locations and the QS options.

We've had the chicken parmesan, the baked ziti, spaghetti and meatballs and have enjoyed it well enough. As someone stated earlier, if you find Olive Garden acceptable, you'll find Tony's just as acceptable.

Good luck and let us know what you think. Enjoy your trip!!!
