Tony's Dessert on Dining Plan?

According to the menu posted on AllEars For TTS, "Those on Disney Dining Plan are being served a Dessert Sampler Plate". Does this mean that if we are on the dining plan we MUST have the sampler plate and not order off the regular dessert menu? Is this a trend and are other restaurants now forcing dining plan participants to order certain desserts, appetizer, or even entree's? This is very disappointing to me; last year we were able to order pretty much whatever we wanted off the menu in every restaurant we visited.

if this in reference to tonys in liberty square at mk, we ate there last week for lunch and the only desert avaible was a piece of chocolate cake which was very good but the only choice

As far as I have read, DP folks are able to order any dessert intended for one person as their dessert. I'm surprised to read about the exclusion at Tony's. Does anyone have more information on this?

We had dinner at Tony's on Aug 29th using the Dining Plan. Our waiter brought us the dessert sampler without ever asking what we might like for dessert. We were not given a choice. He did not even mention that he was bringing it to us. I actually thought that he had left our table to get us a dessert menu, but when he returned he had the sampler with him. I did notice that many of the tables around us also had the sampler.

Same EXACT thing happened to us! I could have written that post! We ate there Sept 1 for lunch.

I wonder if this changed for the free dining? We ate there this past May on the DDP and could order anything we wanted. I got some kind of chocolate torte and my mom got an apple/raisin something.

Yes, please, what is on the sampler and is this intended for the whole table to share, or does each person get their own sampler?

It was intended for 2-3 people. It was tiramisu, amaretto cheesecake, & 2 cannolis. The only thing I loved was the cheesecake (& I'm not usually a cheesecake fan).

We had lunch at Tony's on 9/18. Here is a picture of the dessert platter. Dd was given a sundae that was on top of a Mickey shaped chocolate chip cookie.
