Those steaks look fabulous :thumbsup2 as do the strawberry shortcakes :thumbsup2

Your CG pictures are making me have 2nd thoughts about not booking when we are there in December - we normally go, but thought we would do something different! :)

I am still in the minority with CG, their steak did absolutely nothing for me, never in a month of Sundays worth 2 TS credits to me.
Only US restaurant I have ever come out of still hungry.
Maybe after the refurb we will try again.

We were not overly impressed last time for the cost.

Artists Point at WL was much better for a signature - I couldn't finish my dessert as we had an app as we are used to small portions at the signatures but these weren't!

California grill looks stunning - bet DH goes for the cookie plate if it's still on in October.

Glad you explained about the japenese dessert - I thought it was green swiss roll!

Magical Express for the first time to OKW was good - just a shame we were the 2nd last drop off. We had phoned prior to our visit to request accessible accommodation (DH going in for knee replacement surgery when we return home and so quite hobbly at the moment) but were given a 2nd floor room in building 30. I'm sure this is lovely but was a bit of a trek for him to the bus and the nearest pool as well as 2 flights of stairs up and down to the room.:confused3 Getting a change of room was a bit of a problem (fully booked, 4th of July and all that) however Ahmed was a star and we were moved to 6220 near Hospitality House (and Cyrano as we've since learned) - still on the 2nd floor but in a building with a lift :cool1:

Neighbours :) Shame we never caught up :(

Neighbours :) Shame we never caught up :(

I know - we just caught on too late.

Thursday 12th July

We're a little later out this morning as I spend too long chatting to DD and DS on Skype.:lmao: We decide to head over to MK (missed you again Cyrano) and I head straight over to Splash Mountain for FPs given we had been unable to ride last week (the ride was down ). Back to Pirate's where I've left Tony on a comfy rock and with a queue time of 10 mins we head in. Almost a walk on. As we leave we spot the Tiki Room has reopened after being closed last year. The first time we did this was in DL on out very first Disney trip in 1997 and we were never great fans of the 'Under New Management' version so decided to give it a go. As we leave Tony comments that it will probably be another 10 years before we are back (but I know he'll be back in like a shot for an air conditioned place for a wee snooze :rotfl2:).

Time for elevenses and a trip to the Ice Cream Parlour on Main Street. All American Sundae for Tony and an Ice Cream Plaza Sundae for me.

DSCN3021.jpg

Our FP window for Splash has opened and we decide to pick up a FP for Buzz en route. A long queue at Splash - always great to walk past it - and we are soon on a log bobbing along to Zip-a-dee-doo-dah. Tony manages to avoid getting wet but I end up with a rather damp bot. Time for IASW (well, surely you can't visit WDW without doing it once:thumbsup2) and then back to save the planet from Zurg. Disappointing scores as usual. Although Tony disagrees and says he scored rather well, Zurgs comment of 'pathetic' in the final room seemed to be directed at us in particular.

Time for lunch and we head towards Pinnochio Village Haus in Fantasyland. On the way we stop to take a quick pic of the new building work.

DSCN3022.jpg

This is the first time we have been here for a while and the first time we have experienced the CMs traffic direction. Everyone has to enter through the main doors where you are given a menu. You approach the counter, make your selection, collect your food and are then shown to a table by a CM. No large families or tour parties blocking tables :thumbsup2 Easy peasy!

Our choice is the chicken flat bread with chocolate cake for afters. OJ for Tony while I had a cup of iced water.

DSCN3023.jpg

It's getting pretty hot and busy so we head back to the bus and are lucky enough to catch the end of the Main Street Philharmonic. As fellow 'brassers' we wonder at their energy and performance in these temperatures.

The afternoon is spent snoozing by the pool in more pleasant temperatures, courtesy of the clouds which are gathering and we make it back to the studio just in time to avoid being soaked.

ADR this evening is for The Captain's Grille at Yacht Club. Our server is Jessika from NY and we settle down to make our selection. It would appear to be a steak evening again and we both choose the Grilled Rib Eye with cheddar cheese and bacon mash and veg.

DSCN3026.jpg

Fantastic steaks yet again. We follow these with wonderful Blueberry and Cherry pies with oatmeal and lemon gelato. These were magnificent!

DSCN3027.jpg

The chef came round all the tables to chat to guests and enquire if we had enjoyed our meal - a nice touch.

Another day of lovely food courtesy of DDP.

Personally I would rather have 2 nights in Captain's Grille than 1 in Cali Grill, really enjoyed our meals there.:thumbsup2

Loving your trip report, we have booked for Captains Grill & I'm going to have the same as you. Thought your Mexican meal looked good too, is it the new one or the one near the river ride?

La Hacienda di San Angel is the new one which overlooks the lagoon - spectacular view of Illuminations from a window seat - maybe as good as Rose & Crown.:) Also must say it was one of the delightful surprises of our dining. Our meal was exceptionally good.

Hey Tony, that All American Ice Cream Sundae looks divine :lovestruc

Did you manage to get those as a snack on DDP

Annette x

Everything continues to sound and look lovely loving all that food ... so happy that you enjoyed CG and La Hacienda

Everything we've had so far has been on DDP apart from the odd extra drink. We are so determined not to be among those who report that they have unused meals/snacks :rotfl2:. I sense a diet coming on on our return but hey ho.

Coming up - Teppan Edo.

Maybe after the refurb we will try again.

we're in that minority with you Wayne - we were never more disappointed than at CG - every aspect of it - the food, the noise, the snooty pretentious waiter, etc.

the sundae and pie look scrumptious!!!!!! :goodvibes

That's such a shame - we loved CG & DH who is a tightwad would happily pay OOP to eat there ;)
Just as well we have 7 nights DxDDP here next Sept - but Captains Grille looks like one to add to the list now :)

Friday 13th May.

We decide to miss out EMH in Epcot today and head for HS at rope drop. Straight to TSMM for a FP (10:45) and ride as well. The queue says 45 mins but looks short to us and we're on in under 15mins. ;) Next stop Star Tours and we're back in the front row again. A little shaken at the end this time so we deicide to head for a quiet seat in Muppetvision 3D to allow Tony's tum to settle. :cool1: We head back to Star Tours but things are much busier and we still have plenty of time to catch it again. Definitely time for a coffee and cake at Starring Rolls. Buttrfinger Cupcake for Tony and Carrot Cupcake for me. :thumbsup2

DSCN3028-1.jpg

TSMM, The Great Movie Ride and things are getting busy and hot. Time to head back for a rest and some lunch. We decide to pay a visit to the Boardwalk Bakery and share a Turkey, Bacon and Swiss sandwich followed by a fruit tart. Tony has an OJ and i have water.

DSCN3031-1.jpg

After a short rest we head down to the pool and read for a while.

Our ADR this evening is Teppan Edo. We're really looking forward to this as there have been some excellent reviews here on the Disboards and it was also one of DD's favourites when she worked here. We really enjoyed the experience and were seated with three other lovely couples. Our chef was very skilled and entertaining but we were a little disappointed with the food. The veg and noodles were very tasty but our choice of chicken and beef were nice without being anything to rave about.

The choice of desserts was not that great either. Tony had the chocolate ginger pudding which was OK but he felt could have taken more ginger

DSCN3041.jpg

and I chose ice cream.

DSCN3042.jpg

THis is also the first meal we haven't felt really full after. Pleased we did it but we won't hurry back for a while.

Saturday 14th July

Our day starts with an ADR for breakfast at 1900 Park Fayre. We had a lovely meal here Christmas morning 2009 and so had included it in this year's plans. We were not disappointed and enjoyed all our choices (especially the strawberry soup - yum). Too many pics to post so just a selection below. :rotfl2:

Stuffed again! Definitely time for a quiet day by the pool to read and catch up with laundry.

We decide to head over to Mara at AKL for lunch to share a chicken flatbread

DSCN3072.jpg

and one of my favourites - zebra domes. :thumbsup2

DSCN3071.jpg

Back at OKW we decide to try the pool at Turtle Shack. Lovely and quiet and loads of sun beds to choose from. We'll be back.

No ADR this evening but we have reserved the Illuminations preferred viewing at Morrocco and decide to stop in France for some refreshments and a little cake or two. :)

Tony's choice is cheese and ham rustique followed by a Napoleon

DSCN3073.jpg

and I have the vegetable quiche and strawberry tart.

DSCN3074.jpg

The fireworks are excellent as usual. ADR at Via Napoli tomorrow.
