Has anyone had a baby or toddler who has been through this?
This afternoon, PJ had a fever of 103.6 so I took him to the Dr. who took a look down his throat and said his tonsils are infected and covered in pus.
He said that for the next 48 hours I can expect him to run a very very high fever up to 104. (After a dose of baby motrin, the lowest I can get it is 101) He's so hot and cranky and I feel so awful for him! He's on antibiotics though so I hope this thing clears up soon and I get my happy baby back!

I'm sorry to hear your baby's sick. neither of mine ever had tonsilitis, but I had to deal with bronchiolitis, ear infections, strep throat...don't you hate it when your kids get sick and you can't make it all better for them?

My oldest DD has strep and tonsilitis non stop. When she was 4 she had strep 8 times within a 2 month period. Her dr accused me of not giving her medicine to her correctly. And come to find out, the pre school that she went to had several children sick. We found out that it was the water fountain in the school. We did have to have her tonsils removed when she was 5 and she hasn't had either since!

oh poor little guy. I hope he feels better soon.

I had tonsillitis and swollen adnoids when I was 6. Both were removed.

Yep both my DD have gone through periods of step and tonsilitis. My oldest DD had her tonsils removed last year (at age 13) after 2 years of constant problems.

Have you guys dealt with a high fever like this one? I want to give him a bath thinking it might help him feel better but I'm not sure a hot bath would be good for him.
Any suggestions?

A luke warm bath would be a good idea. Deffienlty not "hot" or too cool though.

You can also try giving him half doses of Motrin every 2 hours instead of a full does every 4 hours. Give the antibiotics time to work. I bet within 24 hours of him starting the antibitoics his fever will begin to go away.

Thank you!
The dr said the high fever will last about 48 hours and then go away.
I feel so bad for my sweetie though. It's really awful when they get sick isn't it?
