These are all great suggestions. I remember last year's New Year's Chat and it was busy, but not too overwhelming most of the time. I have two suggestions for those who have never joined us before:

1. Pick a color or 2-3 people's chat to follow. Focus on those if that helps you keep up with the conversational flow. Yes, some people know one another in real life, but that came after a long time of chatting online. Don't feel as if you are the only one who does not know someone else. There's lots in the same position. We were all new one time.

2. Have fun!

I did visit chat once when I first joined. I do agree it's a lot to take in at first but, I'm usually not one to give up right away. Or else I would never have visited Epcot again after the first time when I got lost in WS.
I do hope I get a moment to check in tonight. I promise that, if I don't make it, it won't be intimidation. It'll be the nasty looks I'll get from my surrounding if I whip out the laptop.
