I got this info on allears.net:

Tonga Toast - banana-stuffed sourdough bread, battered, deep-fried and dusted with cinnamon and sugar

Mygawd that sounds yummy. Is it as good as it sounds? I'm a  lover and we plan on picking up breakfast at Capt Cooks a couple of mornings on the way to park. Is this something I can eat in line while I wait for the parks to open?

And what is this Dole thing I keep hearing about. I saw a pic of it and it looks like pineapple and Cool-Whip so I must be missing something, :)

TIA

Yes, Tonga Toast is as amazing as it sounds. It is all sugary and yummy! One of mine and my husbands favorites at the Poly and typically make a trip over there to get it each time we visit. I don't know that is it necessarily waiting in line food as it can be big and messy.

Dole whips are soft serve pineapple ice cream. Very good if you like pineapple. Typically I get the float which has the pineapple soft serve floating in pineapple juice. Seriously refreshing and a must have at the Magic Kingdom.

I would definitely recommend both, especially if you love bananas and pineapple. Now if you like honeydew melon might I suggest you run over ot the Japan pavilion in Epcot and pick up a Kaki Gori. So good!

Well I wouldn't say I LOVE pineapple, but DH might like it. I can't wait to get my paws on that toast!!! mmmmm-mmmm.

Now honeydew....THAT sounds good, lol! Too much to eat, to little time!

Thanks so much!

Tonga toast is delicious! But it is definitely not the healthiest breakfast option. Also not a good choice to hold on your way into the park. Think of it like French toast in that regard. Definitely worth it though!

I wasn't too impressed with Dole whips, though I generally like pineapple. It was too sickly sweet for me. I would have rather had the plain pineapple.

I know! Don't even get me started on the Schoolbread in Norway. This is why I packed my "stretchy" pants. :rotfl2:

We seem to be in the minority on the boards, but we found the tonga toast WAY too sweet. Both of us usually have a very sweet tooth, but could not finish one order of tonga toast between us (and DD even had a couple of bites, so actually 3 of us couldn't eat one.)

Would not suggest eating this before you go to the parks on a hot day...very heavy food.

Now dole whip - love that, but we're serious pineapple fans.

Well, as you can see by my pictures, I did not have any trouble eating (almost) the whole thing by myself. I did go to the last breakfast seating at Kona Cafe (around 11:30 a.m.) and hadn't had any breakfast, so this was really brunch.

The outside is coated in Cinnamon. The bread says that it is sourdough, but it didn't have that really strong tangy sourdough taste. At Kona, They give you regular syrup and some strawberry type syrup (compote?) as well. I didn't care too much for the strawberry syrup. I read that at Capt. Cooks, you only get regular syrup.

Hope you get to try it!

p.s. I like dole whips too, but forgot to take a picture of one. I'll try to remember to take one next weekend (OMG - Next weekend!!!!!)

Everytime we visit WDW, my husband insists on getting Tonga Toast. It is his favorite thing to eat in all of WDW.

It is fantastic! DH and I each had one at Captain Cooks, and we didn't have any trouble finishing both of them. They were SO GOOD!!!!! We also didn't find them too sweet. We even used syrup on ours. :confused3

Dole whips are wonderful as well. I like the float, but I love pineapple juice. :thumbsup2

Let's just say I might as well plan our trip arond the Tonga Toast!!!! It is something else, out of this world. You will never have a plain peice of french toast and say that it is good once you taste the Tonga.

I love pinapple, but the Dole Whip was just not my thing.
