Is there another place I could get Tonga toats other than Kona? Thank you.
I have to agree. Its not that it's bad-just overrated. The same goes for dole whips.
I also tried the school bread and that was justbad.
DH loves it and I am good for a few bite but I could never eat the entire thing myself...way too sweet.
I feel the same way about zebra domes, totally overrated! Personally we do not like them at all
I agree on the Zebra Domes as well as the fact that I am not a fan of Tonga Toast. (Though my DH doesn't like it either)
Everyone has different tastes. I am glad that I tried it once, and am happy to leave both Tonga Toast and Zebra Domes for others.![]()
o.k., I was going to agree with you until you attacked my beloveddole whips. No one bad-mouths my dole whips!
And my beloved
school bread
(Course I haven't had the new version, maybe it's not as good now. We'll see in May 2009.)
I do agree on the tonga toast...I like it for about 2 bites...after that, way too sweet.
What is a zebra dome? Regadring OHANA, the "pineapple & coconut" bread was great!
TIA

Zebra domes are cold/wet coffee flavored sponge cake-y things from either Boma or Mara at AKL.

Just like the OP, I had a few "must-try's" on our last trip- Dole Whips and also the beignets at POFQ. I love pineapple, but what I didn't know was that it was a pineapple/ frozen yogurt type concoction. I don't like frozen yogurt. I was expecting something like a frozen juice, which this was not. Just not to my taste.I love pineapple and am so looking forward to trying this Dole Whip.
As for the beignets, they are little puffs of fried dough with sugar on them. That's it. I'm sure in New Orleans they are to die for, but at Disney it's just a piece of fried dough.
I've had beignets from New Orleans - from Cafe du Monde. I just couldn't figure out what the hoopla was all about. Fried dough, slightly raw in the middle with powdered sugar on top. mehnot for me.

Hi, I have a question unrelated to the OP, but related to Tonga Toast,
Will it still be good if I save it over night? We will have a dinner at Kona, but don't want go back any other time for breakfast. I was wondering if I could by one and save it for the next day.
I am sure it won't be as good, but just wonder if it would turn into sth gross....
Thank you for your opinion.
I believe Tonga Toast is a breakfast only item. I know I really worked to schedule a breakfast just so I could try the famed Tonga Toast.
That being said - I don't think it's an item that would reheat well or taste good cold. I'd say that even if I liked it.
The CS at the Poly has Tonga Toast on the menu, could you take a monorail ride from MK to the Poly for a CS breakfast some morning?
