Just a quick question--Is there a difference between the Tonga Toast served at Kona Cafe versus Captain Cook's?? We are anxious to try this sweet breakfast treat, but want to have our first experience with it be the best :) Just curious to those who have had it at both places---which is better?? Thanks! -Kelly

Not sure if it is the same or not only had it at Kona Cafe's and it is sooooooooo good :thumbsup2 . I would think it's the same but you can always call Disney Dinning if you don't get your answer. But I am sure somebody knows the answer to that.

I have had it from Kona and it is the best!!! Soo good!!! I'm assuming it is the same thing but IDK because I never checked out captain cooks breakfast when I stayed there.

At Kona the Tonga Toast is served with a strawberry syrup/sauce...at Captain Cooks it's "just plain" (can't believe I said that!;) )

I think the strawberry sauce would be too much sweetness for me!

Had it both places and are perfectly happy eating it at Cap't Cook's---tastes the same to me (minus the stawberry sauce which I didn't miss at all).

I agree with you . You don't even need the strawberry sauce.

That's what I thought when Kona first started serving the strawberry coulis with Tonga Toast. But I finally tried it and it's great. It's not a syrup and has a bit of a tang that tastes great with the TT. I just poured a little on my plate and dipped a forkful of TT into it to try.

Otherwise, Tonga Toast is the same at both places. Great!

Warning: Sugar Alert!!! We have learned our lesson with the Tonga Toast having tried it two years running at Captain Cooks.

It comes with a container of syrup and I warn you not to use it. In 2007 we blissfully covered the Tonga Toast with syrup and it took us a few hours to come down from the sugar high. :rotfl2:

This year we had it without the syrup and we really enjoyed it.

So my advice is to try it before adding any syrup.

The strawberry sauce sounds like it might be good but we are not big on using TS credits for breakfast.

You are making me hungry. I had the Tonga Toast in 2006 at Kona and will have to make the comparison next year as I plan to have it at Captain Cooks.

My DH thought it was TOO sweet :scared1: but I have convinced him to share it with me! (I think he must have just been tired ... I NEVER heard him say ANYTHING was too sweet in over 20 years!) ... anyway I hope they don't remove that from the menu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

glad you asked. I was wondering the same thing. I would go for captain cooks but I also want to try the pineapple macadaim nut pancakes. Can i get those at captain cooks too?

I can't wait to try Tonga Toast for the first time - with all the pictures I have seen posted and all the talk about it, I'm way excited. I might be in trouble since we are staying at the Poly. I'll have Tonga Toast right at my fingertips...
