Does anyone know if Tonga Toast is safe for those with peanut and tree nut allergies? :confused3 Thanks! :goodvibes

I would guess that if served from Kona Cafe it would not be as several other items fixed on the grill have nuts in them. However, the Tonga Toast at Captain Cook's might be safe.

I know when we ordered room service the large Mickey waffle wasn't safe due to the batter being made in the bakery. I didn't ask about the Tonga Toast specifically.

For something like that you better call. It's better to be safe than sorry! Call the Kona cafe directly!

If you call ahead, the chef may be able to make the tonga toast for you with all the proper precautions for your allergy. Definitely give them a call!

I just got this recipe from the Mickey Mom's Club and the only thing they are showing close to a nut would be the canola oil that it's cooked in. Now, if they lay it down on the counter near some nuts, that's a different story.;)

Thanks for all of the advice! :) I was planning to ask them when we got to Kona, but just thought I'd ask here so I didn't get my hopes up. Calling is a great idea, though. I'll definitely do that!

Have you put it on your dining reservations yet? My brother has a few food allergies and I made sure to note it on all of our reservations. The chefs made a point to come out and talk to him at every meal.

I agree with the above posters call the disney dining and let them know you have a nut allergy, they will be more than accomodating. I have a allergy to fish both with fin and shell, I tend to stay away from anything that can be cooked with or on the same surface as fish or I speak with the chef to clarify. At this point I am still able to use benadryl to help with the symptoms if I come in contact with fish, needless to say I always have a supply on hand.

All of our ADRs are set and the allergies are noted for all of them. :) Thanks for the tips, we'll definitely have Benadryl and Epi-pens on hand just in case.
