My DD wants a pair and where we live they are $60. Which would be fine except that I know her and she will be bored with them in a few months.

Does anyone know of a place near Disney that I can buy her a pair....especially at a discount?????

I got mine from the toms website... occasionally they have free shipping. I also got the kids size, so they were substantially cheaper. $30-something per pair (dd who is 8 and i each are on pair #3). I normally wear a womens 6.5 or 7, but eear a kids tome size 4.5. They have kids sizes up to 6. And the kids line has an Its a Small World collection... new ones released at least twice a year. Hth.

That's good to know....my DD wears ladies size 7. I will check our local stores to se what they charge for a kids size.

I ordered them off the American website and have them delivered to a US address postal service. You pick them up there and then declare them on the way back in to Canada.
We live pretty close to the border to it's easy for us to do it that way.
All in all the same shoes cost me 50 dollars less that way than ordering them off the Canadian site and paying shipping.

DD (15) got a pair at Downtown Disney. A sort of beachy/surf type store on the movie theater side. They were $42. We also do the "kids size" trick that saves us about $20 a pair! She chose those as her Disney souvenier, she loves Tom's! I too wasn't thrilled with the price, but she has worn her two pairs for over a year now almost daily so we've gotten our monies worth! I don't think your dd will be bored with them!

We just came back from the mall. The kids shoes are $45 and the same adult shoes are $55. The ones my DD really wants are $60 and of course no one had the size she needed.....she was willing to go for the ones they did have which are a 1/2 size smaller than she would need. To that I said 'no way'....so of course she's miffed. I want her to be able to try on the right size to be able to truly decide what the right size is.

For those that have them....do you have the extra insole? One store we were in said you need to buy it or else the shoes will smell really bad. I find it a little funny that the other 5 stores said nothing about it.

My DD16 gets bored with things easily but she's been wearing Toms for 2 years. She's gone through many pairs and they are still the shoes that she wears most often. She loves the Burlaps so much that she's on her second pair of that style.

Extra insole? No and I've never noticed any kind of odor. Maybe that sales person just has really sweaty feet;)

Looking for kids sizes is a good idea.

I have two pair of Toms and have not had a problem with odor. I do usually wear thin "no show" socks with them. I think ANY shoe can get smelly when worn without socks.

I LOVE my Toms! I'm so glad to have seen this thread. I'll have to check out DTD so I can save a few $$. I have the burlap ones and the pink ones that look like pointe shoes and I LOVE them! They are so comfy, but they do get a little stinky if you wear them a lot or if they get wet. My burlap ones actually unraveled at the heel. I sent them an email and they requested a picture. About a week later I had a brand new pair and wasn't asked to send back the old ones (not that I can wear them!) Unfortunately, I can't do the kid's shoe trick since I wear a 9.5 :rolleyes1 ;)

Op... the stores usually only carry up to a 4 kids, but it goes up to a 6 in kids online. The kids ones also have a thicker sole, so they last longer. I do not have an extra insole, but i put tea tree oil on my feet before putting the toms on. Otherwise, yes, they will stink a lot and in a hurry.
I wore my brand new toms (cut the tag off in the hotel room) for my whole disney trip this past feb. According to my pedometer, over the 10 days, we walked over 75 miles, dry and one day in the rain. I never had a single blister or even a hot spot. Totally worth the $$ to me. Also, if you google "toms coupon code" theres usually a $5 off floating around. If you couple that with free shipping, they aren't that unreasonable, imo.

What are "Toms shoes"?

Toms shoes are a fad-ish brand of shoes with a good message. For each pair that is sold, they donate a pair to a child in need. They are rather popular with the hipsters and highschoolers. Check out tomsshoes.com.

Am I the only person that finds these shoes gawd-awful ugly?

Of course I think I am the only person that finds Vera Bradley bags gawd-awful ugly, too.

No you are not the only person. When I saw the pair my daughter ordered, I told her they looked like my grandfather's bedroom slippers! Ugliest shoes I'd seen in a long time. And I couldn't believe how much she paid for them!

I will never buy another pair of shoes. I don't like them, but I bought some for my daughter, who loves them. The big toe area, on both shoes, wore out a hole after 3 months and the company will not take them back or replace the shoes. This happens to my friend also and she said that is just what they are; she will buy them because they are comfortable Ugh. What a waste of money. $50 for a pair of shoes that tear at the toes all the time. Not for me.

Thanks...all good info.

No, I agree. UGLY. At least they have fun colours....but of course my DD wants grey.

II think I've convinced her to wait until we get to DTD...which will be our first day. We might also make that a full on shopping day and go the Florida Mall so there will some places to look there as well. Barring all that I told her she could order online and get them shipped to us at the resort before we leave....we are there for 13 days. I hope she goes for the DTD option.....she has a $15 gift card to spend so that would make me happy to have her kick in a few dollars.
