Tomorrowland Terrace vs. Plaza Garden Dessert Party

Visiting WDW for 6 days in January for my birthday. I'm very excited as it's the first "grown ups only" trip for me. We have reservations for the California Grill on the evening of my birthday and I was trying to determine the best fireworks viewing experience for my party. Our reservation is for 6pm which should give us plenty of time to get into the park to view the fireworks from a dessert party. My question is which of the two MK dessert parties are best? Or should we head to Top of World (I'm a DVC member but haven't been to the lounge yet)?

My strong preference would be the Plaza Garden viewing over the Tomorrowland Terrace version - it's a better overall way to experience the show, IMHO. And a bit cheaper too.

I don't have experience at TOTW, but I agree with @NuJoy in that if this is your first/only/primary time watching HEA, the in park experience is best. The projection element is just so cool/intense/a part of the show, it's more fun when you can see all of the elements combined.

When in Jan are you planning on going? Just FYI, I see some (many) Jan dates for the party are showing up as 6:45, which means HEA will be at 8PM (somewhat normal that time of year). Just want to make sure you've factored that in in light of your 6PM CR ressie. I tend to think that timing works best with a 9PM HEA, not 8PM. Sorry if you're already on top of that detail.
