Tom Sawyer's Island Questions

I'm assuming you can spend as long as you want on this island? Also, is there any places where we could sit and eat our bagged lunch? We're going in summer, I read that this place tends to be a good break from the sun, I'm assuming quite a few shady spots? I was working on our TPs, and was thinking this might be a nice place to take a lunch break around noon? We can all eat, then adults can sit and rest while the kids explore and play?

1. Until near the island's closing time. (Not open at night.)

It's one of our MOST favorite places. Since my DH doesn't have much magic in his body (POOOR me...can I hear some violins, please?), he likes quiet & down time. The kids play in the fort & he can sit & relax. Even my DD (15) still loves the island & the fort. It's honeslty amazing how quiet it is everytime we are there.

I know there is a food counter there, but everytime we've been it was closed.
