If you only had 2 days in the DL park(June 18-19 both non block out days) would u skip Tom Sawyer island?.

Unless you have a child who really wants to do it I would say skip it

I think it depends. Do you have young kids? The pirate theming in the caves is really fun. Also a great place to escape crowds and heat. If the kids need a break from waiting in long lines, definitely a great place to play and explore for a little while.

Seriously, though. :goodvibes It can be a nice place to eat lunch if you brought your own food or were able to score some quick counter service. If you are not leaving the parks for naptime, it might be a good place to rest and recharge, and it combines a fun attraction with a meal, so it doesn't really waste time.

Depends. If you have an active child or children around maybe 6-years old, they'll enjoy Pirate's Lair and it's a great place for them to burn off some steam. Otherwise, I would skip.

To be fair OP, its mostly vague answers because your post is pretty vague to begin with so its 50-50 and depend on your situation. Others have asked, but do you have kids? Have you done it before? If you have, have you done it since it was Pirates Lair? Do you have a long list of things you plan to do? I mean give us something lol.

As for me, I really love TSI, but I do it about a quarter of the time out of all my visits! Its never a priority, but its always a great distraction for 30-60 mins when I do go. Actually once I stayed on the island for 4 hours and just read a book and it was soooo relaxing becaue DL was swamped but that was a great place to get away from the crowds for awhile.

So again, it just depends!

We do this sometimes. Buy food at Bengal BBQ and Royal Street Veranda and have a picnic. We sit in the shade on the BTMRR side of the island. We did this before and after the Pirate makeover. I have two girls 9 and 11 now and they like the treehouse and the rope bridge.

We have never done Tom Sawyer Island. Our last trip was 6 days. Hubby has never wanted to do it. I am hoping this trip to get to.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but....

Do you recommend for 2 adults who have never done it before? Or is it more of a "kid" thing? We have 3 days in the park.

Not just a kid thing at all! When I WAS a kid, I love to run around and do all the caves, climb to the top of the rocks, swinging on the bridge, etc. Now that I'm older, I STILL do all those things lol, but I also take my time and just walk the trails, sit for awhile and watch the boats go by or simply relax! Thats the beauty of TSI, it never gets super busy so if you want a place to get away from the crowds for a little while, its the perfect place to go and explore.

I say give yourselves 30 mins to really see the place! You might want to stay longer, but you should definitely go at least once.

My kids love TSI at WDW and I definitely plan to add it our itinerary when we go to DL in July. They are now 10 and 9 and I'll also be bringing my 7 yo g-dd. Its a definite on my list but then again we'll be bypassing most of the mountains since those types of rides are not their cup of tea.

If you have kids and don't mind letting them explore a little on their own, they'll almost certainly have an amazing time on the island. If you don't have kids but love the Pirates of the Caribbean films, or want a nice place to eat lunch or relax away from the crowds, I'd figure to visit in the afternoon when crowds are heavy anyway. (If you have kids and they love the Pirates of the Caribbean films then you MUST GO.)

If none of those things apply/appeal to you, then you can probably miss it. In fact, if you have kids and don't want to let them explore the island on their own and don't want to explore with them, either, you probably shouldn't go.

I was always one of those people who liked to eat at Disneyland Resort instead of bringing food in, because they have some delicious food options that I can't get at home so I thought it was special. But my most memorable, maybe my favorite meal, was sitting at a table on Tom Sawyer Island with my friend and her mom (who were going on the cheap and had brought their lunch but shared their chips and cherries with me). We were away from the crowds, had no wait to get our food, and a woman who took care of the island stopped by and chatted with us about the baby ducks.

But on a 2-day visit, it's a judgment call, unless you want to give your kids some independent playtime or love the Pirates of the Caribbean films. (There are enough references to the film to make it something a fan should probably visit at least once.)
