I never go to this, but I read about finding hidden paintbrushes in the morning. Has anyone done this lately?
We are leaving for WDW on Sunday.
What time does the first boat go over?
Do they really hide paintbrushes or does this not happen anymore?

A question I have reguarding this is.......

Does Tom Sawyer's Island open up the same time as the park opens?

I know some attractions open an hour or two later than the official park opening.

I was also thinking of trying to find a paint brush.

This island opens 1 hour after park opening. You need to be in line for the first raft to search for the paint brushes.

Do you get anything if you find a paintbrush? Or do you just get a paintbrush? Sometimes I wonder how these things get started? Did a CM one day think hhmm it would be funny to hide some paintbrushes and watch tons of people search high and low to find these silly little paintbrushes? :confused3

If you find one, take it to the CM at the dock. They will give you a FP for BMTR or Splash in return. Most of the time they are in plain sight, but many people do not know to look for them.

1) Yes, the paint brushes still exist.
2) They are palced randomly every day.
3) Gets you front-off-the line access for you and your family.
. . . There are 5-7 paint brushes hidden (in plain sight) each day.
. . . Once they are found for the day, they are not replenished.
. . . Ask a CM if the brushes have been found for the day.
. . . Find a brush and take it to any CM on the island or at the rafts.
. . . The CM will give you a "Go To Start Of Line Pass".
. . . Give the pass to a Splash or Thunder CM, and go to front of line.
. . . The pass can be used (once only) anytime.

Would it not be easier just to go over to splash mountain and BMTR and get fast passes then to waste your time going over on the raft looking for paint brushes? I have heard about the paintbrushes but felt it was better to waste my time when park first opens over in fantasyland.

it might be easier just to go to SM or btmr but its more of the thrill of the hunt thing. Much like spending $10 at skeeball to win a $5 stuffed animal :)

My family went over this past April looking for paintbrushes and we did not find one. My DS wasn't too disappointed, but I sure was!!! Be careful not to hype the paintbrush thing just in case you don't find one. I agree that if you're looking for a FP, it's easier to just get one from the ride rather than trek over to Tom Sawyer's Island.

In all the times I have been to WDW (in 30 years) I have never went to Tom Sawyer Island!!! Well next month I am GOING!

I am always wanting to go over there and get a paintbrush. I do plan on trying again on my next trip in a couple of weeks. But I do plan on hitting both splash and thunder mountain before I head to the line. The key to getting in line for the first raft is not to be the first person ON the raft, as you will be pushed to the back of the raft. So try to be the LAST person on the raft, as you will then be the first off of the raft. If I can get both mountains done, and then get a front of the line pass to one of them, it would probably be Splash Mtn, only because the return time for their fastpasses is sooo long. Then I can hit both mountains twice and only use one fastpass!
