Tom Cruise-purchasing his own Ultra Sound

I saw on the E Website that Tom Cruise purchased his own sonogram machine so he can monitor the baby. It also said the medical field is looking into charging him for non-perscription of a medical instrument. I hope someone can slap him along side the head. He has truly lost it.

I read about this a week ago, and I guess he confirmed it to Barbara Walters.

Can an ultra sound hurt the baby if it is used numerous times? I only had one and it was when I was 5 months pregnant.

::yes::

I'm still wondering who's baby it really is.

He said on the BW interview that he was going to donate the machine to a hospital afterwards. Nice tax write-off!

herc.

Can you say Control Freak? I feel sorry for that poor child already. I wonder if he hired an ultrasound tech to use it for them. Not just anyone should be using those machines. And unless there's somthing wrong with the child, there's no reason they need to "monitor" it. This is just another way for him to throw his money around for the world to see. Yes, Tom, we know you have more money than God.

Yeah, wouldn't it be ironic if Katie comes down with postpartum depression. Not that I'd wish that on anyone, except for maybe Tom. :rolleyes2

Were is that barfing smilie when you need it?

Aww, come on, give the guy a break... he did say to BW that Kate's allowed to make noise during the birth, if she wants. Although, "as in everything, we should try to be quiet."

Guys a flake.

She's "allowed" to make noise? What a freak. And she's a freak too for being with him. I hope they charge him with the prescription thing - why should he be entitled to do things others aren't supposed to? He doesn't need to "monitor" his child - that's what doctors are for. He is a certified weirdo. Like Michael Jackson, without the odd looks.

If he's a freak, what does that make Katie Holmes? :earseek: I am worried for that child.

The scary part is how much money is he giving Katie Holmes to ride this out? She has to be making a lot of $$$$$$ :confused3

Her parents must be horrified. They seem normal.

The Tom bashing is really getting out of hand.

1. Where is the proof he actually purchased a full scale hospital grade untrasound unit instead of one of these:

2. If the units like one in the link above are now commonly available, what is the big deal? Even if he did get the full scale model because he can afford it, so what?

3. People with money buy our products for home use too (defibrillators). I fail to see how that is anything to make fun of and to call crazy.

I totally agree.
I see no reason for the nastiness toward him except for pure pettiness. As for the sonogram machine, he said after the interview that he had a trained technician to operate it. What's the big deal? If I were filthy rich and expecting a child I would probably buy myself one of those machines, as well.

As for him being a Scientologist, what is so weird about that?

Some of you need to take a good look at yourselves, because your posts had me looking for the barf emoticon.

You think? Well, I think it's unlikely he purchased a small doppler probe 1. because that wouldn't be extravagant and 2. because a hospital doesn't need someone to donate that to them. And the Doppler probe is for an entirely different purpose than the Ultrasound machine. The former is for fetal heart monitoring (as opposed to having to use a Pinard stethoscope) and the latter is for actually viewing the fetus in utero and observing its development etc performing Crown-Rump Lengths, Head circumferences, femur length, cardiac views etc... like for a detailed ultrasound. I just think buying something like that, and announcing it is basically obscene. Try donating the money he has to the third world.

Okay...I have a theory...it's been brewing since the last TC/KH thread about her having to be silent during the birth:

I think cardaway is Tom Cruise!

Come on, admit it...you are, aren't you? It's okay... ;)

j/k - I gave up on the whole TC thing after the last thread...if TC/KH want this whole circus, then they should have it. I need to take care of my own family and not worry about theirs...

He is also claiming that x amount of children have stopped taking prescriptions because of his interview with Matt Lauer!

There are no good studies in humans to discern the risk of repeated ultrasounds to the normal fetus.

If (and it is an if) he did buy it, he obviously itends to use it repeatedly during the pregnancy. That is probably not a good idea.

And if he did buy it, I am sorry he is going all Micheal Jackson on us.

I stand by my original post. The man is a nut job and control freak. It has nothing to do with his religion...it has everything to do with his personality. He has created a media circus for whatever reasons. Funny that with 2 previous wives, he was never fortunate enough to have a biological child but now all of a sudden, Katie is magically expecting. I feel very sorry for that child.
