Anyone read Tom Clancy novels and/or watch the Jack Ryan series on Prime? I've been reading him for decades and LOVE the Jack Ryan 11(?) book series. I'm a couple of episodes into the Prime series and not sure what I think.

I like the series on it's own, but it's throwing me off that they've taken (some of )the characters from the book, brought them into present day (book timeline actually goes back to the 70s), and gave them different story lines.

Anyone else?

I enjoyed the first two seasons, but I haven't read any of the books.

I haven't seen it, but thanks for the recommendation because this is a great option to try to watch with my parents when they come to visit this weekend.

Just know there are three seasons with 8 episodes each. There is some brief nudity in some episodes of the first season (I haven't gotten all the way through the second season, so can't vouch for more).

This may/may not be an issue while watching with your parents.

We have one episode left of season 3.
It's okay. I have been having a hard time staying focused on it

Thanks for the heads up but that will be fine. They are always looking for something new to watch to so if they enjoy an episode or two then they can continue after they head back home. Thanks again.

I've read all of the Jack Ryan books with the exception of the newest one, saving that for my FL trip in two weeks. There are currently 22 Jack Ryan Sr books and 10 Jack Ryan Jr books. I watched the first two seasons of the show but haven't started the third yet.
Once I was able to set aside the Jim Greer being completely different than what he was in the books and just enjoy the story I thought the show was pretty good. Much better than taking Clark and completely changing the storyline, background and effect in the movie version of Without Remorse.

I read somewhere that Amazon was going to do a spin-off series with the Ding Chavez character from the books, starring Michael Peña.

Yea, I didn't even TRY to watch Without Remorse. I honestly think the Jack Ryan Sr series (as in the books) would be a great TV/Video series. Just follow the story lines as laid out by Clancy.

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the Prime series, but aside from the character names, not much comes over.

I think season 3 has dragged in several places. It doesn't need to be that long, tho obviously that's what the contracts/script writers came up with. Movies like "Clear and Present Danger" seemed to have more action, less filler.
