Tom Brady

As a loyal Pat's fan, I used to (notice I said "used" to) love and admire Tom Brady. I thought he was a great player and a wonderful role model....humble and a team player etc.

After the Bridget deal, the outright failure at last year's Superbowl and taking up with "Jinxelle":thumbsup2 he has steadily declined in my eyes. He has become a self centered playboy that has let a lot of people down.

His fame and $$$$ has gone to his head and I hope that Matt Cassel succeeds greatly. I think if given the support and confidence, Matt will do great things with the Pat's, just as TB did after Drew Bledsoe.

I was hoping that they would actually bring Bledsoe back. Say what you will about Bledsoe, but he is a stand-up guy that has always taken the high road.

He's not even close to being the best ever and my team (the Broncos) usually beats the Patriots, so I'm not saying that because I'm jealous.
Oh, and for the person that said "what great quarterback did not have a great team surrounding him?", John Elway didn't have a great team surrounding him until late in his career....even if he'd never had the two Super Bowl victories, he still would have been a great quarterback.

Having been a football fan for about 20 years, I've never seen a QB who plays any better under pressure than Brady. He doesn't have the strongest arm ever, but he reads the field better than any QB I've ever seen. I'd rank him in the top 3 with Marino and Montana.

Cry me a river. Teams lose players. The Pats have been very lucky in recent years by not losing key players (they have had injuries to good players, but none that were not replaceable in the grand scheme of things). I remember a few years ago the Jaguars had 13 or more players on injured reserve before the season ended. You have to get lucky in injuries to win a Super Bowl. Look at the Rams last year - they lost offensive linemen, defensive players, all sorts of starters and had a horrible records - they were not a "bad" team, but when you lose so many starters you just can't compete.

The Patriots will still probably win 9 or 10 games even without Brady and could still win the division, but I doubt they will make another SB.

But yes, Tom is one of the best QBs of all times - maybe top 5, certainly top 10, but probably not number 1.

I'm glad someone else in one of my fantasy drafts took Brady one spot ahead of me... I got Moss instead as a consolation prize... :)

I find this all very interesting. The sports pundits have for the last few years fawned over Brady like he was the second coming and possibly for good reason. I don't deny that he is an exceptional quarterback. What I find curious is that some of those same analysts are predicting the Pats to win 12 games this year without Brady. Now, if Cassell can win 12 games with the Pats, then how much difference would Brady have made? I don't think most early predictions had the Pats winning 13,14 or 15 games. So, Brady and Cassell are even? The Pats win the same amount with either QB?

A disclaimer, I don't really put that much stock into what the analysts spout off, but I do find it interesting that they don't think the loss of Brady will have a larger impact. Lord knows what would happen if Peyton went down! I love our entire team(well, not Ed Johnson), but many of them have the success they do because of what Peyton brings to the field. I will stack our skill players against the Pats skill players and I can tell you the loss of Peyton would be devestating. So, how much is Brady and how much is a great system with good players and a good coach(ACK, I can't believe I said that! I think I'm going to be sick!)?

Or, maybe they think the Pats will win 12 games because they have the EASIEST schedule since the beginning of time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

So, good luck with your season. If Cassell does work out and you win 12 games, we could always sign Brady as a backup. Sorgi didn't look so hot in the preseason!:)

Ok, how about the Hottest!!!

Oh yeah!!

Currently in the NFL, Tom Brady is the best QB, no doubt. I wouldn't go so far as to say the best ever. How do you really judge 'best ever' anyway? So many different criteria to judge upon. I liken Tom Brady to a great chess player that can see the what the field will look like 5 plays away.

Well, I'm from Montana Country, so I have to dispute the "greatest QB in the history of the NFL".

I was about to say the same thing. No one will ever outshine Joe Montana in my eyes. :)

I think karma is biting poor little Tommy in the butt. Good things shouldn't come to people who do bad things. Just sayin'. :rolleyes1

Ok, I'm guessing we're talking about the Bridget thing. Now, I don't watch much football and anyone who leaves a pregnant woman is a dog. However, I find it strange that Bridget didn't get pregnant for the three years they were dating. I realize how anti-feminist this sounds, but I'm just sayin...:rolleyes1 And even if it wasn't intentional, it happens and you try to make the best of it.

I sure hope that's what you were referring to. :lmao:

As a season ticket holder of my beloved Patriots, I am sickened by the falling of Tom Terrific the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL:worship: :worship:

I am looking for moral support, but I will also except hating from those who have been beaten by the great one (giant fans not with standing)!!!!!

So how many super bowls has the Beloved Brady won since losing to my Denver Broncos????

Broncos routinely own the Patriots.

And to ask which good qb's dont have great teams around them?? IGNORANT STATEMENT!!!

How about Marino? How about early Elway who took his team to super bowls practically by himself. How about McNabb?

It's great to watch the cheatriots finally get the short end of the stick, and it couldn;t have happened to a better coach to lose after an undefeated season, just too bad he has built in excuse now for this year.

No we have never gome 18-0. And what did your 18-0 mean? Squat without the Superbowl.

And as far as your 2nd comment , I guess we'll just have to wait and see about that.
Sorry, but 18-0 means more than just 'squat'...majority of teams can't say that. While I wish they had won the Super Bowl, I don't really think that loss negates the rest of the season.

It's super easy to go 18-0 when the coach spies on the other teams;)

Tom Brady is a good quaterback. He is no where near the best quaterback in the NFL

Oh please....give it a rest. All coaches do exactly what Belicek did..it's kind of like Watergate, Nixon got caught. But that didn't mean no one else was doing that stuff. Doesn't make it right, but it is what it is. Anyone that thinks the Patriots had the season they did due to those isolated incidents, so early in the season, are truly suffering from sour grapes.

Sorry, I have to disagree. While I don't think the 'sun is hung on Tom Brady' I do think he has handled life pretty decently. Playboy?? Don't think so. He's a guy, a good-looking one. What do you think he's going to be like? A monk? He has dealt with his son just fine. Where is it written that because he fathered a child it means he must marry the mother? I just don't think his 'fame and $$$$' have gone to his head. He doesn't seem to have changed all that much.
Drew Bledsoe? Ah, not always the high road. Remember the mosh pit situation? A girl was hurt during that one. No one is ever, not ever, always going to take the 'high road'...people are human.

Will I miss Brady this season? Sure will. Is he the best QB in history? Well, not 'the best' but he's right up there. He is very talented. Give him a decent team to support him and he's just plain great.
Will the team miss him? I'm sure they will. But, they will readjust to Matt Cassel, and hopefully do some good playing. No matter what happens this season, it isn't going to be any different than past seasons...the Pats will always be the team everyone loves to hate.

ummmmmm NO!

And it wasn't last season the issue, it's the evidence of doing it past seasons including SUPER BOWL!

You need to stop believing everything you hear on the news. Or in this case, follow up a bit more. All of these allegations about the Super Bowl were found to be completely false.

As for what he DID do, anyone who is a fan of football knows that he did nothing different from any other coach. It just became a convenient excuse to blame the Pats success on.

:thumbsup2

The guy was good, but I would love to see what kind of QB he would be if he was on an average(or worse) team. T

Brady was very good, but there have been other QB's that were better. I hate the niners, but Montana was certainly a better QB than Brady. I hate the Bronco's, but Elway was a better QB than Brady, and IMO I would say Morino and Eikman were also better than Brady.

You talk in the past tense like he's dead and gone....hate to break the news to y'all, according to the team, he'll be back next season. Probably even more intense since he just missed essentially a whole season.

I am a huge Pats fan too, but no he isn't the best QB of all time. Top 10 I would say yes.

I hate to see any player injured, especially a season ending injury. I used to be a Tom Brady fan and really rooted him on in his first super bowl. But honestly Bill Belichik sickens me now so I can't stand the Patriots any longer. I always thought he was just being sarcastic but I believe now he is just an a@! Tom Brady is a great quarterback, but give me Peyton Manning any day, I think he is just an all around great guy.

My feelings have nothing to do with the superbowl where you guys squeaked past my Panthers!

Squeaked past a Panther team whose players were juiced up mind you...

Didn't the Broncos have Shannon Sharpe?
Didn't the Eagles have Terrel Owens?

wow and what did he have prior to shannon sharpe in the super bowls? sammy winder steve sewell mark jackson ricy nattiel...I'm sure most have never heard of them ever!

Ownes for 1 year (other was injured), he has still been very good prior to and after owens with no name wr's....next try???

as for super bowl spy allegations, they were actual proof that was destroyed (admittedly), and who how convienent...you really think NFL wants to announce and agree it happened???? please, they slapped them on wrist for last year, to "prove" they were unfounded prior to then and taken care of now..please don't; you believe everything you want to

Having a tough time making out what you're saying, but it sounds something like you've been watching one too many Oliver Stone movies.

There was no proof. Tapes were destroyed. No one knows what's on them. To jump to the conclusion that they had videotaped another team just because a disgruntled ex-employee claims it, is a bit of s stretch.
