A couple of questions as I've not used Toll Pass yet. We are most likely using Enterprise at this point since I got a pretty sweet rate on a rental for our upcoming trip in August.

It's about using toll pass vs what the rental car company offers.

1.) Do I just tell the rental car company "No thanks. I'm using toll pass?" (do they argue or hard pressure at all?)
2.) If I use the "skip the counter" feature, how do I tell the rental car company "No thanks, I'm using Toll Pass".

Toll Pass is a great option, highly recommend it. How much pressure you get about toll coverage will depend on the company and the individual employee, but telling them you're using Toll Pass will be enough--even if you have to repeat it a few times. If you use skip the counter, you'll be going through an online check-in process where you should be able to clearly indicate you don't want toll coverage.

Not at MCO, but at other locations, I've been asked if I want toll coverage, I just say "no".

In Florida, before I leave the parking spot, I add the rental car make, model, and license plate to my Toll Pass account. HOPEFULLY I remember to remove it after I return the rental. 😜

If you end up using Enterprise (or one of their group partners Alamo and National), you should not have any issue with respect to toll options. Their cars usually use toll-by-plate rather than a transponder, so there is no need to make certain a rental-car-supplied transponder is not activated when you use the Visitor Toll Pass. So long as you associate the rental car plate number with the Visitor Toll Pass on the VTP web site, that should take precedence over toll charges being passed to the rental car toll processor. With some of the other rental car companies (Avis and Budget in my personal experience), there may be a toll transponder affixed to the windshield of the rental car, encased in a shielding box that must be closed properly to make certain that that transponder is not read at the same time as the Visitor Toll Pass tag.

If you do the online check in, you'll either be asked the question or it should be saved in your profile. I've never had an issue with any of the Enterprise Group.

I use my own transponder and for whatever reason there are times where it doesn't register going thru the toll you'll get billed by plate. I can only speak for Avis but they haven't(as of yet) added any additional fees I just got bill the few tolls that my transponder didn't work. This has happened on several different trips

I also bring my own transponder and I have had no issues with any car rental counters. They ask, I tell them I have my own and that's it! I do have to remember to change the car make, model, and plate number on my account - and then leave fuchsia pink sticky notes on the dash so I don't forget to remove my transponder when I turn the car in! I also set an alert on my phone.

It's good to see not every company does what some do if you end up getting tolled. I tried bringing my own transponder (EZPass) a couple times and had issues. No trouble with it picking up the main tolls on 417, but on two different trips it didn't pick up the tolls when I went through exit booths. Both rental companies passed the tolls on to me with somewhat comically sized "administrative" fees attached--the most recent was $15, which I ultimately got removed. I also neglected the first time to remove the rental car plate from my EZpass account right away after I returned it, and had the bad luck that the car had been rented a few hours later and I got hit with about $10 in someone else's tolls before I remembered to remove the plate the next day. That mistake was on me, of course. After those fails, I switched over to Toll Pass and have never had an issue since.

We've used Alamo and Dollar and have had no issues. I take our Transponder and add the plate as a rental car. It allows us to add the start and end date of our trip so the plate is automatically removed.

That's what I do, too. But I always check after returning the car so the rental info is no longer on my account.
