My family is considering staying at the POLY for the first time. We are trying to decide on a longhouse. I found some conflicting info on Tikiman's website and was hoping someone could help me out. Does the Tokelau's rooms have one sink or two in the bathroom? We are a family of 5 and the extra sink would really come in handy!

Thanks!

Which part is conflicting? Here is what is on my Tokelau page.

“When it was first built they took a handfull of rooms and used them as test rooms. These rooms have different layouts than any other rooms in the Polynesian. Some had double sinks and others even had the sink area outside the bathroom. There was even one with a vanity area. I am told that in the renovations of the late 90's that the rooms were all made to be the same and the test rooms were changed.”

It is my understanding that the test rooms that had the double sink no longer exist since one of the rehabs. There were only a few anyway but if you want a double sink area for sure than request Tahiti. Rapa Nui also has the double sinks in the non-wheelchair accessible rooms but you might end up facing the parking lot.

Aloha

You will like the Tolelau longhouse. We though the location was ideal for us. Shoot I even had a couple of good photos I sent to Tikiman to use on his website(hey Tikiman, reread this thread :) ). I think we had one of the rooms with double sinks before the rehab. I can't remember but my wife said we had double sinks..smjj

Thanks Steve for your reply. What got me confused was on "The Rooms Page" it showed a picture of the layouts of the rooms. Under the layout picture with two sinks it reads "typical room in Tokelau, Rapa Nui, and Tahiti. I guess of we definately want two sinks, we need to request Tahiti?

Oh yeah I can see how that was confusing. I made that map when I was told they still had the two sinks in some rooms but also Tokelau is the larger room like Tahiti and Rapa Nui. I wish I knew for sure if the double sinks were still in any of the Tokelau rooms but I get different info from the Polynesian staff. They say that only the housekeepers know for sure.

At least you know Tahiti will have them for sure.

Aloha

Thanks for clearing things up for me, Steve. It will be our first time at the POLY and I love to find out as much info about the resort as I can. (I'm addicted to these boards). I love your website! My kids always go to the pool page! Thanks again for the info, I sure I'll be posting again before our trip next year.
