Does anyone know where I can get tofutti...either in the parks or at the resorts? And does anyone know if dole whips are lactose free? I have heard varying thoughts on this. Thanks so much! :goodvibes

The two places i know has tofutti is the Fountainview in Epcot and the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor... As far as i know dole whip IS lactose free but to be safe i would email or call Disney.

I don't know anywhere to find Tofutti on Disney property. Others might know.

Dole whips are non-dairy, lactose-free. Lots of people call them ice cream but there isn't anything dairy in them.
Here is the official Dole Whip ingredient list: http://www.precisionfoods.com/foodservice/bnd_products_details.cfm?skuid=10922&id=103

"Dole Soft Serve Mix is a lactose free dry mix that is reconstituted with tap water and frozen down in a soft serve machine. Marketed under the popular Dole brand name, this unique product delivers an intense, natural pineapple fruit flavor, yet is fat free and cholesterol free.

Ingredients
Water*, Sugar, Dextrose, Pineapple Juice Concentrate, Coconut Oil**, Stabilizers (Cellulose, Xanthan Gum, Locust Bean, Karaya Gum, Pectin), Maltodextrin, Silicon Dioxide (Anticaking), Corn Syrup Solids, Citric Acid, Sodium Caseinate (A Milk Derivative), Artificial Flavor, Potassium & Sodium Phosphate, Mono & Diglycerides, Artificial Color (Yellow 5 & 6), Soy Lecithin."

I don't know about Tofutti, but you CAN get Rice Dream at just about any TS restaurant at WDW. My DS is severely allergic to dairy and the chefs always make him a special dessert with Rice Dream.

As PP said, Dole Whip is entirely dairy-free. DS loves them and we get to avoid a trip to the emergency room. :woohoo:

You can get tofutti at The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor also. Most TS places have either tofutti or rice dream. The dole whip is not safe if your child can not have any dairy at all as it does contain some dairy. My son has a metabolic disorder and can not have any dairy at all and this is not safe for him to eat. If you are doing a dinner show you can request tofutti or rice dream but you need to call at least 48 hours in advance to notify them of an allergy. They do not cook on site so anything special needs to be requested in advance.

Technically this is dairy and should not be consumed by someone with a severe allergy nor anyone with galactosemia. This is why they have it noted in the ingredients list. Lactose Intolerance is another story. Also artificial flavors can have dairy in them so it is important to ask. Usually they will note it for this as well but not always so it is important to ask.

Both my boys are Lactose Intolerant and we had no problem getting them Rice Dream anywhere we went.

I did tell the server when we were seating, that we would be ordering it, so it' wouldn't take ages to get it to the table when we were ready.

We had no problems at all :)

I was pretty suprised how well they took to Silk Soy milk. We had never tried it with them, because at home we had no problem purchasing Lactaid, never dawned on me to have them try it before Disney. The chef at TH was such a sweetie and brought them each samples of plain vanilla and chocolate to try and they LOVED it. We no have one vanilla drinker and one chocolate drinker.

Good to know about finding Rice Dream and that the Dole Whips still have dairy

Most TS restaurants have it, especially if requested. Also, Plaza Ice Cream Parlor for sure does. Most resort food courts and TS restaurants also have soy milk and yogurt. I have even heard that some restaurants, when requested and with a good chef, had Earth Balance, soy cheese and can prepare sorbets.

As far as Dole Whips, according to Dole's website:

Dole soft serve contains a very small amount of sodium caseinate which is a protein derived from milk. This ingredient is so highly processed that government officials do not consider it to be a dairy substance. As a result, Precision Foods is legally able to label Dole soft serve as “nondairy”. Nondairy coffee creamers also contain sodium caseinate.

Due to the sensitive nature of some dairy allergies, Precision Foods encourages customers to use their own discretion when consuming Dole soft serve. As sodium caseinate is not a source of lactose, Dole soft serve is lactose free.

BUT, it is NOT vegan!!
